Hunted harrisonbay this morning, killed 1 greenhead. Had 5 in the spread 3 minutes before shooting hours, 3 minutes later, only four got up. After that it was 8:30 before i saw another bird besides a gull, and up till 11:00, only saw about 25 mallard and 3 bufflehead. Had a couple hit the outside of the spread, but both times it was little too far to shoot. Half of the ducks i saw were decoy shy and ALL of the ducks were Very call shy. I think these same mallards have been around for a couple weeks. VERY slow compared to last week, and i also did some scouting before i loaded up and only saw 3 bufflehead out on the main channel.

Thanks for sharing... FYI, with HARD freeze pending this weekend, a lot of ducks used to using backwaters will often head for bigger open water. Might help you out some... especially Sunday.

I was thinking the same thing simms. I had a buddy and his friend hunt soddy creek yesterday and both of them limited out. mallards, greenwing teal, 2 mergansers, and a gadwall. He went back this morning and only saw a couple small groups. Goes to show you these local ducks are unpredictable.

boy i tell ya what, about 4 weeks ago, the guys that have that permanent blind in the very back of mullins cove was just wearing em out! I hunted on one of the islands that day and didnt even shoot. More than likely they were shooting gadwalls and divers.
