Greetings!!

My wife and I will be coming to Chattanooga this Thursday 10/20 until Sunday 10/23. We have a house rented right on the river, actually on River Canyon Road. I would love to get a line wet if possible. I'm bringing a couple of light tackle setups. My question to everyone is, can I fish the river where I'm at? If so, what would you recommend as far as bait, setup. etc. I would assume I need to get a visitor's license.

Also, do you have any suggestions as to what to see and do in Chattanooga? Possibly a can't miss restaurant? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

If you are ever in my neck of the woods check out www.pensacolafishingforum.com and we will help steer you in the right direction.

Thanks in advance!

Chuck

I wish I could help you on the fish part ..,....,. But if you like ribs, you need to go to Steve's Landing. The rest of their food is good too. But the ribs are awesome!!!!!

There a lot of good restaurants in Chattanooga, try some of the non chain places like Hennens ($$$) Or the Blue Plate, both downtown near the river.

Champy's , The Tupelo Honey Cafe, and The Urban Stack are good.

There a quite a few Mexican restaurants in the downtown area if you are so inclined.

I always recommend going to Point Park on the north end of Lookout Mountain for a great view of the city.

Not sure about fishing on the river down in that area. The river is really deep near the Raccoon MTN pumped storage facility.

If you don't have a boat you might try below the Chickamauga dam near. I have heard that folks have been catching White Bass down there lately.

Hopefully someone else can give you some better advise about fishing down that way.

Yep. Don't miss the aquarium.

I'm not sure about the present height of the river, but you can actually walk on or wade in the river near the Chattanooga State college campus. I did it mid-summer. Check it out on Google maps or G-Earth.
