I'm sure someone else besides me has vista. I despise vista. I have more problems typing, moving, copying, pasting. There are some intelligent individuals on here and was wondering if anybody else had problems such as this. As I typed this I can't hit "shift +a" to get a capital a. I have stuff erased after I type it if I hit certain key combinations. I"m not PC illiterate, I have a desktop with 3 internal H.D.s and a bunch of other mods I've done on it, ( it looks like a frankencomputer). I'm not using it now B/C it is working for me at the moment doing some serious stuff. But geese, vista just gives me the worst of times. Is this just me or does anyone else have these sort of things happen to them? I've talked to techs with M.S. but they don't know what is going on, and want me to reboot everytime I give it permission to do something. (In XP I've learned how to do a GREAT number of things, and tech's ways are not always the way to do it, whether it be configuring proxy settings to tweaking the registrar) but vista makes my brain hurt!!! I would feel better if I knew I was not the only one that this happens to.

I repair computers and from what I hear thru the grapevine is that vista is a pain in the a$$. I have worked on one machine that had vista but it was just to add hardware. I think microsoft will give you an upgrade or downgrade to XP pro, I would get it and wait a year or so for the bugs to be taken out of vista. Try changing out your keyboard for an offbrand, it might help.

I just bought a new computer this week that came with Vista and had a computer geek take it off and install xp which I really like and for the same reasons that you have described. Call Orkin if the bugs keep showing up. LOL

I bought my Wife a Dell Laptop for Christmas last year. It came with Vista. After messing with it for a week, I called dell and they sent me a copy of XP. Problem solved.

Vista Home sucks...Vista Business is where its at! I have a Toshiba at home and it came with Vista. I had problem after problem. Now that I swapped to Vista Business..I have had zero issues. Keep that thing updated too!

I'm surprised that a brand new computer will allow you to load XP if it came new out of the box with Vista. I could never get the proper drivers to do that with mine. Its like anything new, gotta get the bugs out. Even XP has a crap load of updates, but its probably the best thing Microsoft did for an OP system.

Im pretty happy with Vista now... :)

I thought you could not get XP anymore, I thought they quit selling it and/or installing it. The laptop I was using lastnite is my wife's. I don't know if it is still under warranty but if so do you think they would/could possibly put XP back into it? It's a toshiba also. I think drumkings got call Orkin! LOL Maybe I might check into the vista business but it might be a while. I have noticed that if I pull up the task manager it acts sortof like a watch dog and the laptop will do as its supposed to. I actually installed Ubuntu on it a while back and it seriously freaked out. I've been fooling around with various open source op. systems on my desktop and thought maybeI could put it on the laptop. My wife was confused with Ubuntu on the desktop and the laptop w/vista had major problems when I put it on there so I took it off. I think XP was M.S.'s best and they should give ppl an option whether to have it or vista. Why they made vista is beyond me esp. if they are supposed to release a newer op. system next year.

CB1340, try getting in touch with your computer manufactuer and see if they will give you XP Pro to put on your machine, if not I will do it for you. Also keep all the mr. fix-it programs off your computer, all they do is compound the problems you have or will have, keep your puter as clean as possible, take off all unwanted or unused programs that you don't need. Get rid of Norton or McAfee if you have it and use a good security suite like Charter's Security Suite or the free one that your ISP offers you. XP Pro will be around for a long time even if they have quit selling it.

I have vista but not sure if its home or bussiness because it was built by father-in-law but i like it so far but noone ever said i was smart

LOL yeah blueyeyou my friend has it on his laptop and he has never had any problems with it. Doc, I can't get charter even though I live in FT. O, "they don't provide service to my area." I was also looking into windstream ( I think is what its called) but they're not in the area either. I use the Mcafee security suite b/c its free thru comcast. Not that I like it but instead of paying for others each year I just use it. On my desktop I use mcafee, AVG and a spyware remover and between all of them I can usually get rid of trojans, malware, viruses and the like. Once or twice I've really got some nasty ones on there and had to maually erase them out of the registry and deep within the C drive, but out of using XP since it came out, I've never ran in to any problems that I couldn't fix on my own. I have taken many PC classes at various schools around the area including networking, general repair, fluency w/PC's, databases, the list goes on and on. I uninstalled a bunch of stuff on the laptop, but some other things I wasn't sure about. In my exp. its better to backup, create restores, and THEN try taking something off but with Vista it just takes forever to burn a DVD data disk. I also am still learning my way around Vista i.e. like the run command missing from the start menu, you just got to go turn it on. Would you charge to put XP pro on there, if so how much?

I have Vista Home and have the same problems. Glad its not just me. Guess Ill try the XP pro thing too.

My wife bought a Toshiba laptop, it came with Vista home, I didn't want it read too many issues .. XP had its freakin fair share too when it first came out .. but so far vista has been stable for her.. its a pain in the hiney to figure out how to do what you can in xp .. to turn off the extra things that slow it down.. all the pretty graphics etc .. and the way they handle files and folders is way dif than XP is ..I'm gonna see if Toshiba offers a down/up grade back to xp .. she don't like vista that well and I being her tech sure don't either

Sean, Toshiba MIGHT have the drivers now but 6 months to a year ago, they did not. I worked with Bassfishnerd (Major compuer GURU!) and we couldnt get the drivers at all. Call Toshiba and ask before you try other wise you'll just end up reloading Vista. I upgraded from home to business..LOVE IT! Dont know why but it operates much smoother with networks and programs.
