My brother is leaving tomorrow morning so I decided to take him out one last time after work today. Got out there around 5:30. I hook a nice fish on a jig in about 4 fow by a tree, she takes some line and takes off to the other side of the tree. She immediately breaks me off. Im cussing and my brother is laughing at me because thats 3 nice fish lost in 3 days. All on a jig. Next thing we know she comes up and jumps on the other side of the tree and spits my jig out. Almost like she was saying, "youre going to have to try harder than that". She was easily 6lb. She literally jumped and spit my jig out about 6-7 seconds after my line broke. Ive never seen anything like that. I couldnt do anything but laugh with my brother. We cruised to another spot and im tired of pitching this jig so I grab my little 5ft medium spinning reel with 6lb mono and a little shad rap. First cast at an isolated patch of grass, after 2 cranks, it gets crushed and off she runs. Pulled some drag and ran into the main grass bed. I thought i was going to lose her too, but I fought her well and she came in at 21". My scale was out of batteries so I couldnt weigh her, but she felt close to 6lb. The fish I lost was bigger than this one. I guess all it took was for me to take the skunk smell off the boat for me to get into some quality fish. Only action we had in the 2 hour voyage, but it was great. Here are 2 pics of the fish.
