Well, I finally stuck my toes in the water and signed up as a co-angler for the BFL on Chickamauga Sept 12-13. I ALMOST did boater but I figured it was best to just ride along on a couple of these bigger tournaments 1st.... I hope I get in, FLW rep contacted me and said the needed 12 MORE boaters to sign up for me to get a slot... any takers?!

Stick with what you know. Don't be intimidated by these guys. Hope you get a ggod draw. The majority are good guys but every once in a while you get someone who is clueless.

yeah that is why I almost went as a boater... I figured I would take my chances this time. Heck worst case scenario its still a day out doing what I love!

think of it as a learning a experience and remember youre not competing against the guy in the front of the boat.

act the way you would hope some stranger would act if they got in your boat

I am waiting to see what my son's game schedule looks like before I sign up, I would be a boater if I do.

My advice as somebody who has seen great nons and some terrible nons...communicate about what the boater plans to do, even if it is junk fishing, they have a general thought of how they are approaching the day. Do not bring too much gear, take your confidence baits, have fun! you will know by the boater's actions if they want to talk or be silent. Discuss netting of fish, it can be an area that creates some animosity. I agree with Rusty in the Act as you would hope a stranger acts when they get in your boat.

Hope to see you out there, and if not, best of luck.

Be patient, use ur area well,....if ask for suggestions it will be ur opportunity to make them in lieu of commenting otherwise if not catching...may be a tough trip, someone will find them...It could be your ride, luck, be safe... : emoGeezer emoUSA

Try to rig up 4 rods with your favorite baits and a small tackle bag with stuff that might come into play. Having to many rods and to much tackle can be a pain for you and the boater and most boaters have plenty of plastics that they will share if it's something you don't have and that's what the fish are biting
