i have been reading were people recommened changing your vro to a new cro on a johnson venom.my question is what is this, what it does and is it hard to change.thanks

Just a guess but VRO might be variable rate oiling, while CRO should indicate constant rate oiling. it's a snobbish way of saying to disable the oil injection pump and add the oil to the fuel tank. On my engine the oil injection pump is driven by a shaft driven by a plastic gear on the crank shaft, two 10 mm bolts secure the pump to the engine block. I have a merc and have never had a johnson so yours might vary slightly but do not damage any seals or gaskets in the process or you could create a vacuum leak.

With recommendations from other cffers, I took the oiler off my VRO and now pre-mix in the tank. No more concerns. If it is running, its getting oil. Job cost me about $70 at the Johnson outboard shop on Dayton Blvd.
