I was diagnosed with Diabetes in May of 2000. I was around 220 lbs and lived on burgers, fries, and pizza.

I was a "good diabetic" for several years and dropped down to around 180. Even though I'm at 164 lbs now, I have not been "good" for a couple of years, for a variety of reasons, and avoided the doctor for as long as I could.

I went back to the doc a few months ago, and the threat of being put on the needle scared me back into line. At that visit I was 176 and my HgA1C (a blood test that you can't hide from...it measures the sugars in your blood over the past 3 months) was 9.9. It's supposed to be 6.5-7.0. The doc gave me 3 months to get myself straight, and I went back this past WED.

I had lost 12 lbs and my A1C was 7.0 !!!! Perfect !!!

This gives my self-control and willpower a big boost of confidence! Having Diabetes is a struggle at best, so throw one upstairs for me as I try to stay in line.
