Browsing throught the TWRA fishing regulations, I noted that the Chickamauga listings included a limit of 5 walleye per day with a 16 inch length limit. I have caught a few sauger, but never a walleye in Chickamauga. Are there walleye in this reservior? Just curious. emoScratch

Thanks for the reply FishingVol. I have fished very little on this reservoir, but have not encountered any walleye, and didn't think they occurred here. Glad to know there must be some present.

About 15 years ago I caught one trolling a crankbait. Saturday I caught a big sauger out of deep water. It was a big one (3lbs.) Hated to let such a tasty treat go! There's not enough walleye in this lake to fish for them. I may not know much about fishing, but I feel confident saying that.

Yep,just not enough of them. Chickamauga really isn't deep enough to hold good numbers of them. There are alot of them in the northern tennessee lakes.

I accidentally ran into a walleye below Chickamauga Dam a number of years ago, about a 5 pound fish, but that's the only one I've seen in the area. It was quite a shock and thrill to get it, but you never know what you may get there. I think I've caught 16 different species below the Chick dam over the years. I've gotten a few sauger in the Chick and Hiawassee, but it's been rare.

Like FA said.  Troll very slowly with small crankbaits, spinners w/ nightcrawler, jig tipped with tuffie, etc.  Pretend you are fishing for sauger. Be very sure you know the difference between a sauger and a walleye.  They have different length limits.

Thanks for all the replys guys, I really appreciate it. I have caught a few sauger in Chickamauga (a very few), and I do know the difference between these and walleye. I just didn't think they were here. It is nice to know that there are indeed at least a few.
