I have only caught 4 walleyes on the Chick over the last 10 years or so. The largest one was a 5 pounder that I caught while striper fishing in the WB tailrace. I caught a couple of smaller eyes in Island Cove area years ago, so some must be successfully spawning. I just don't think that the numbers are there or more would be catching them. But I don't know that for a fact.

There was some good info about guys catching Walleyes below Nickajack dam a week or two ago here on the forum. Just do a search and put the word walleye in the search line and press the button.

Yes, there are just not a whole lot of them around. I have only caught a couple below the nickajack dam in the fall to early winter. Caught them on jigs while fishing for Sauger. There are a lot more Sauger down there since they are stocked.

Well, if you call only 4 walleyes that I've caught since being here..."a bunch are being caught below Nick Dam". Caught many sauger, but seriously, only four walleyes.
Just happened that the one was 7lbs. All the others were sauger. It is amazing that's the way it is. I guess the other fish have figured out that they taste really good too. Do you think they beer batter them?
Honestly, now that you guys are talking about this, I do know that with all the numbers we caught in MN, the state spent millions to manage the populations and a pretty hefty stocking/management program. Slots always changing. If they want to get serious about the population, they need to manage what they have and do some serious stocking.

While we were warming up the boat on 5-4-07 at Nick Dam, a stocking truck put 300,000 saugers in. They were 2-3 '' long and the guy said the survivors would be legal length in about 3 years.

Whisler, that sounds like a lot of sauger but there is a lot of water from the nick down to guntersville dam, wouldn't even be one per 10 acres. You have to wait untill they congregate at the dams when they are going to spawn then there may be millions below each of the dams. Everyone is just trying to rush the sauger season but you have to be patiunt for the right time and keep fishing for them, the straglers are coming upriver now. Remember how the skipjacks were below the dams in hot weather? now you can't hardly find one, where did the millions go?

Well that's news to me. I have not ever heard of a Walleye being caught on Chick. So if some one caught 4 I'd say that's pretty good for Chick......The only one's I've heard of are being caught way up the Hawissee, close to N.C. line.
My barber had a photo of a 6.5 lbs 27 inches that he caught up there last week end on a silver buddy

Consistent walleye fishing can be found on Norris, Tellico, Watauga, and Center Hill reservoirs. Those are the closest TN bodies of water that I know of. If you get onto any that are closer or more consistent let us know. I'm not a walleye fisherman, but, I think its probabaly the best tasting freshwater fish along with sauger!

Theres a good population of them in Tims Ford also. I know a few guys that target them and do pretty well. I have caught quite a few on the lake. Below the dam is real good but only when they open the gates, which I dont think they have done in 2 years. Seems like I read something about the Georgia wildlife management having a long running stocking program in Carters Lake too.</p>

I new that carters had them , didnt now it was a stock program that put them there , thats why i thought that it was strange that there where not more north of here"carters" , I think of Walleye as a cold northern fish...
Thanks for the info guys..

If you have never fished for or eaten walleye you are seriously missing out on the greatest fish in the US. Being from Minnesota and living a couple hrs from Lake of The Woods, I have been exposed to walleyes and saugers, please trust me, walleyes are ten times better than bass in any aspect.
