Hey Jim: not sure maybe between a 50 up to 100hp shoot Im game to try almost anything {ok with in reason} at this point. thought of putting a propeller on a weed eater hahahah!! emoCrazy just looking for inexpensive as possible. Thanks JC

There should be a plate on drivers side that shows max rated HP, DO NOT emoTskTsk go over this rating, against the law and could get you dead, big fines if you are every stopped and you go over the rating.

A motor that is too big could rip out the transom, and Id also be very careful , since boats that age have a lot of problems with rotten transoms, have the transom looked at to be sure it is solid, b4 you put on another motor!!! Trust me I know from experience, and Ive rebuilt 3 transoms it can be done your self but is a messy job. Just have someone knowledgeable look at b4 you but on another motor.

for sure NRG_big fish !!! Appreciate the comment a big power plant may work for a few minutes but when you go to cut off the POWER look out for the wave coming over the transom, you would end up swimming with the FISHES emoFish emoFish emoCrazy But once again logic prevails, how about engine size up to an 85hp.emoApplause
thanks for the post.

see ya at the big pond. JC

THanks Koda4u. made the call he had allready sold the engine, but has knows a guy that may have one. thanks for you post and your time.

JC. emoThanks

No .. I didnt mean water over transom .. I ment transom being ripped off the boat !!!!!! emoEek emoEek
Check your Max HP persons plate .. I have a 15 and its rated for 55, I had another that was rated for 75 hp .. yours maybe rated higher .. but you had better make sure .. and if caught by game warden or coast gaurd you will be heavily find and they could even impound your boat ! emoEek

I gotcha the first post, as i had written in one of the posts a 85hp would be tops! but thanks again for the concern, today i had seen a boat the size of mine with a 115hp on it. "factory" i prefer a smaller engine because of gas prices. As far as the water over the transom that was levity on my part from a conversation i had with a gentleman this morning i thought you would see the humor in my statement as well as the emotion icons, and I'm not in the practice of doing anything that would upset johnny Law. emoPolice emoPolice thanks again, see ya in the water soonemoAngler and thanks for the advice. i appreciate it JC
