Gentlemen, here's is a much needed warning. I almost ripped a hole in the bottom of my boat as well as losing my motor. Thursday they sunk two huge sections of the old Hiwassee bridge on Hwy 58. They will dynamite the rest Monday morning at 9:00a.m. Well, I got a little nosy and went over by the big barges and was looking at everything. As I went to leave and head back towards the main channel I ran atop solid STEEL!! It sounded like fingernails across a chalkboard on the bottom of my boat. I barely killed my motor in time but it did catch on my prop. You cannot see it from the surface!!! So, don't get nosy, stay in the main channel and just look from a distance or you might be swimming back to the shore. I hope they plan on pulling all of that steel out of the river. Does anybody know if they intend to remove it or just leave it there?
