Peaking High Barometric Pressure that is. I hunted yesterday, Tuesday November 12 in a low. Rain, snow and 25 MPH winds. I saw plenty of deer. But nothing I wanted to shoot.. I watched the weather closely last night and saw a Cold and clear day coming today, Wednesday. I saw that a very High pressure system was going to peak today in our area and said "I will not Hunt."
This Morning while dropping my kid off at the Bus stop, I was admiring the pretty sunny day and thought What the Hey. I'm going hunting. As soon as my kid got out, I was driving off and dumped a full cup of hot coffee in my lap and standing 1/2" deep between my legs. My thoughts went from Bucks to roasted Nuts for some reason.

Back home. A full change of clothes and a quick wash off and I was going hunting... After a stop for fuel then waiting in the long line at Bojangles... Then I was on my way.

I climbed into my tree stand at about 10:00 am with the sun shining brightly but hardly making a dent in the Twenties Temperature I was feeling to the bone.

Every thing was so perfect, Clear and cold, the sun to my back, the wind in my face, the leaves in the thickets were dry and I could hear the Doe over my left shoulder stomping trying to get what ever it is she smells to move.. I hear her walk away without coming into view.

I sat there remembering the High pressure status we were experiencing for today and then started questioning as to why I had decided to drive for an hour to deer hunt on top of a mountain in a Peaking High... Nothing! I sat there thinking of my comments last night on CFF about Big Bucks in the late mid-day so that helped me stay contented. Still Nothing... I stayed in the stand the entire day from 10:00 am until Dark-thirty and saw nothing at all. I did get down for a few minutes to go fetch my evening Pork-chop Biscuit from the truck...

I should have known better than to hunt High on the Mountain during a peaking High Barometer... Listen people Understand what I said about never hunt in a High.. Nothing is moving, not even the squirrels. LL

liveliner i hunted as well and had a bobcat come in around 8:30am and that was it for the morning, didn't hunt the evening because of the high winds. hate riding the tree out. bad enough getting a good shot, let alone 30+ mph wind.

I bet you were in the Valley or Low country.... They move well in the Low areas in a High pressure. Mountain deer go down as the High moves in. The opposite is true in a low pressure for mountain Deer.
