Larry Burton (Panama City Beach, Fla.) There is one undeniable fact that should send shivers of fear throughout the college football spine this upcoming year.

It's not that Alabama is a great team, everybody has accepted that. It's not that the team landed yet another top recruiting class or has opened up the passing game either.

The one cold, brutal, and undeniable fact is that this team will continue to mow down national powerhouses left and right with only one senior starter of any significance on it, and it will only will be better the following year.

It's hard to play catch up when the team you're chasing has a stat like that.

The freshmen and sophomores that will play this year, and will continue to win, are almost all coming back. Except next year, they'll be bigger, stronger, and smarter.

If you couldn't beat them this year, what hope do you have next year?

It will be hard for many to comprehend the fact that Alabama, despite returning as National Champions, is still far from achieving the top of its potential.

This team that goes out every week and mauls other schools is still a work in progress, a team that has yet to reach the limits of its capabilities.

For those wise enough to understand that, it's just downright scary, unless you're a Crimson Tide fan.

As thrilled as coaches are with Greg McElroy, they are even more excited to see what the other two great backup quarterbacks can do after another year of schooling.

So for anyone thinking that Alabama will be doomed to have a "rookie" starting quarterback, all they have to do is remember that McElroy himself went 12-0 as a "rookie" starting QB, and the coaches all feel the next could do the same.

Despite returning almost the entire offense and a large portion of the defense from last year, Alabama is one of the youngest teams in the South Eastern Conference and may be losing the fewest number of seniors.

If they beat you with their "babies," then can you imagine the beating they'll dish out once they've peaked?

Yes, Alabama may lose some juniors to the NFL draft, that happens when you have the top talent on your team, but there are youngsters there with just as great a talent factor just waiting for the chance to show it off.

These are heady days to be a Crimson Tide fan right now, and as you watch this team proceed through the season this year, get used to them.

You'll see them again next year.

kind of a ballsy statement to make when the season has yet to start and not sure if you or whoever wrote that but in Division one college football anybody is subject to beat anybody on any given day so don't count your eggs before they hatch.....especially in the SEC....

Preach on sister! That is the truth though, in the SEC you never know really who is going to win. I personally hope I see Bama just get ripped apart several games.

Remember the VOLS nearly took out that topnotch team. Watch what you put on yourself when it comes to the SEC.

AMEN........I can't wait to put a dang FORK in Spoon!!!!!!!!!

It's coming!!!!!!!!!
Jesus don't like cockiness emoSmile

The Double D erra has begun emoThumbsup

Bout time they got a team. How long will it be before they get put on probation because I'm sure they did something against the rules.

Spoon, watch what you say. What you say will affect these players as they don't know you, or any of us. Same goes for the rest of you. I know when the Colts (my hometown team) lost this past year, it's probably because I assumed they would win and it made peyton nervous.

I don't think what we say or think will effect our team. But..........

Peyton standing on a ladder leading the band in Rocky Top after beating Vandy 17-10 may have jinxed him, as he failed to remember he never beat the Gators.

Peyton 3 - Alabama 1

However Payton did beat.........................AlaBUMa 3 times!!!!!!

Oh I guess its time for the SEC national title talk, Excuse me while i choke on the food i just ate. i Guess if there is 1 team to beat it would be the TIDE. Sorry vol fans your time and team has been put to rest. Thats if you have enough convicts i mean players to have a team. Lets just say this Be ready for the WOLVERINES!!! They are back and they are for real GO BIG BLUE MACHINE!!!!!

What has the Big Poo Machine got this year that makes em so real ?

RR hasn't made it to a bowl game and will be lucky to survive this year even if he can squeak out 6 wins. The team is on sanctions, too many coaches and practice time infractions. They aren't even ranked in the top 25 this year.

I guess if I were a Wolverine fan I would hope the Vols were finished since they handed the Big Poo the worst bowl loss in the schools history. 45-17, 2002 Citrus Bowl. I remember the game, Michigan couldn't even score till the Vols sent in the 3rd string late in the 3rd quarter.

No telling what the convicts would do to them cheaters now.

Hey Spoon. if you believe in those "Babies" so much tattoo their numbers on your rump, go to gate 1 at every bammer game, drop your drawers, turn around, bend over and grab your ankles, and advertisethem to the world. Should help get the word out about the new "Dynasty".

Fellows, Peyton is gone, and I love the guy, both at Tn. and the NFL. But it's about what have you done for me today? As a Bama fan,let me say that last year and the NC is over. And the other years of Tee, Heath, Stafford, and Tebow are gone, over, done, ok? History is history, and all the I shoud'a could'a would'a maybe's and what if's, is like a fart in a whirlwind! This is a new season. It's funny how "Lucky" the really good teams are during there seasons. And all of the championship teams have to have it! They sometimes just have to get lucky! They all need it! I defy you to name a NC team that didn't, including Tn. Fl. Al and LSU of recent years? Now if Tn. wins 5 games, I'll be surprised. Dooley has already said that they just aren't going to be very good this year. And that was before the "UT Brawl"! The East is going to be a mess with the Dogs, Gators, and Cocks, I think. The West has one huge, big question, has Aubrun, LSU or Arkansas learned to play any defense? I think that Bama and the Gators are going to play twice, but who knows? I don't always agree with you Spoon, but just keep stirring the pot. That's what makes sports fun! Roll Tide!
