I think the government is trying to do what is right. They may not always get it right but people who choose to ignore or put down the recommendations are adding to the problem. That guy just seems to be saying nobody is going to tell me what to do, which is how this thing is spreading. Just my opinion.

the point that is being made is that the govt has taken control of practically every aspect of our lives, violating our rights and TOO MANY folks are just going along with it and the narrative without asking questions and doing any real critical thinking

And if one of these, I can do what I want people, exposes me to this virus the virus will be the least of their problems. You have the right to do what you want. Make as many bad decisions as you want. Just to expose my family to your virus.

If someone is exposing you then it's because you chose be there, just as much your decision as theirs

I have to go to the grocery store so that my family doesn't starve to death. The person in front of me has been doing whatever he wants because it is his right to do so. I can't tell he is sick and I am doing what I can to keep myself safe. But, he passes it on to me. How in God's name is this my fault? You guys act like it is going to kill you to miss a few fishing trips for a couple of weeks. I totally understand you can stay a safe distance away from people while fishing. But sooner or later your boat and truck is going to need gas and there is the other conveniences we like to have in our boats.
I just don't see how dragging my boat to a crowded boat ramp is essential travel. I guess I am thinking about other people's safety as well. I have always had trouble understanding THE ME generation. If my staying home for a couple of weeks helps end this sooner great. If it doesn't help, it sure didn't hurt anything. I totally understand I am not going to change your opinion. I am not trying too. I am just not trying to stir up people with my "I want to do what I want to do attitude." Good luck and health to you and yours.

This is not just about fishing, the rights and freedoms the people have given up in the name of "flattening the curve" won't likely come back. Folks will tell their children and grandchildren about how they used to go where they wanted when they wanted in the future.

We do have a Constitution that grants these freedoms under normal situations. I don't believe this confinement will be long term. If the government tries to continue this from now on, I will be there with you to challenge them. I am simply not going to complain for now.

"We are seeing the most draconian measures enforced at all levels of government that we've ever seen in our lifetimes, and yet rather than being alarmed by the things going on, so many of you applaud.

People are being arrested for spending too much time outside, and you applaud. Pastors are being arrested for daring to hold church services, and you applaud. A child's birthday party is raided by police, and you applaud. A young woman is ticketed for going on a leisurely drive alone because it's deemed "non-essential travel", and you applaud. A parade of school teachers and administrators who wanted to drive through neighborhoods and wave at children is busted up by cops because they were "nonessential," and you applaud. A lone paddleboarder in the ocean on a beach without any other people around is arrested because he's violating quarantine orders, and you applaud.

People are being denied life saving medical treatments because they're not a priority right now (not "essential" as deemed by the government) as the entirety of our medical system is focused on one thing, and you applaud.

Businesses are beings forcibly closed and padlocked and owners arrested for refusing to shut down, and you applaud. Dairy farmers (and soon, other farmers) are being incentevized to stop dairy farming and to sell their herds, and you don't seem to understand the implications.

You're being told to use hotlines and online forms provided by your local governments to report your neighbors who don't obey, and you comply. You scold people day after day for not obeying government edicts, and if any of us dare to question what's happening, you lecture about how we're a danger to society and and we just don't care about people dying.

You've somehow managed to convince yourselves that the people whose lives are affected by a virus are MUCH more important than the people whose lives are being destroyed (and in many cases, leading to death) by the effects of a worldwide economic shutdown and impending worldwide depression the likes of which no one has ever seen before.

At what point will you start QUESTIONING what's going on? How far does the government have to push before you're jolted awake from your slumber? How far are you willing to go with this?

If they told you to load your families onto train cars so that you could be taken to Virus Protection Facilities for your own safety, would you do it?

YES. Yes, you would. That much has become painfully obvious to me. And the whole time, you'd be shaking your finger and yelling at those of us who refused, accusing us of being "a danger to society" and "not caring if people die."

But they don't have to load you onto train cars and take you to Virus Protection Facilities, or force you to comply, because you do that voluntarily. They control your mind. They control you through fear. They control you by convincing you that the world is a scary dangerous place, but they're here to protect you, care for you, and keep you safe, just as long as you OBEY.

They know that as long as you're locked inside your comfortable home with Netflix, Hulu, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and a cell phone, while dangling a $1200 check in front of you like a carrot on a stick, you'll comply. No force is necessary for the majority of the herd.

YOU ARE IN IMPRISONED, willingly, and you're too blind to see it."

Nice read I don't agree with some of it but a nice read. I have a friend that is in the Dairy business. No one is trying to shut him down. I don't know where you dug that up from. I won't be getting on a train. I don't believe EVERYTHING we are doing is the best practice. We have never faced something like this in my lifetime. If there are mistakes to be made I would hope we error on the side of safety. I don't want my Mother to get this and die because we were so concerned about our rights to do whatever we want when we want. I WILL be staying at home, in an attempt to protect myself and my family, until this passes. I am not locked in my house. I go to work, the grocery store, the pharmacy, and the gas station when needed. You will not see me in a crowd at Walmart fighting over toilet paper. I don't feel like I am in prison. I just try and look at things from what is safest for now. The big difference between this virus and the flu is this virus can do lasting damage to your lungs. I am not willing to take that chance if I can avoid it. As for the $1,200 dollar check. I wish they would keep it.

I tend to stay away from political conversations, but cannot avoid this one. Rusty is correct. Being able to go where we want and do what we want, is not a disputable right that we have, I, like everyone else, pays me ridiculous taxes, high health care costs, etc...So i am Damned sure going to continue to operate my life by my terms. And yes, many of us are concerned with out boats and being able to get on the water, and we are well within our rights to do so. And from a safety standpoint, i have never seen 10 bassboats tied together having a party, like I saw with the yachts on chick last weekend, or the multiple pontoons i saw with 5-15 people on them. (I'm all in favor of taking drunk party crafts off the water entirely, but again, would violate their rights to operate as they see fit)

If they want to police safety, go ahead. Address these issues, not us who are usually one to two people on a boat

As to the comments made about going to the gas pumps etc...You are still using those same gas pumps when you are making your runs to the grocery store. Our continuance of our sport has no impact further than the non fisherman filling their tank to get groceries.

There is a fact we must all accept. There are stupid people out there. There always will be. Do what you can to protect yourself and family, and leave the rest of us alone. We will do our part as well

Everyone needs to take their own precautions to protect themselves as they see necessary, but DO NOT get on us who are still fishing and working to keep some sort of normalcy in our lives, when we are not creating any additional impact or risk beyond what every other person in the community is.

My father has cancer, and will surely die if he is infected. It has not stopped him fishing, spending time outdoors, or taking care of his home. He takes the proper precautions when he is out and about.

Life is about choices, everyone can make their own. But until you see someone at the ramp coughing on your boat, your opinion is not valuable. Just don't go out. Make that your choice. But understand your choice is not mine or another's. You do what you feel like you need to and we will do what we feel we need to. We are maintaining a sport while being safe. If you disagree, keep your boat in the garage, and your opinions to yourself.

Cheers to Rusty for having the stones to post this and defend it. Well done Sir.

First off this is not a political discussion. If everyone should keep their opinions to themselves, that includes you. lol Is it just the ones you don't agree with? The problem with this is your actions can affect way more people than yourself. If doing your thing would ONLY affect you, I could see your point. Problem is that this is not the case. People had the right to take a cruise on a cruise ship but I bet if they had it to do over they would stay at home. SMH

20,000 people committed suicide in 2008 economic crash. We crossed that number in deaths today. What about the economic problems we have created? How many will die from suicide this time? How many businesses that did everything right will not come back? I work in restaurant repair and we hear on MAJOR chains closing or filing bankruptcy almost every day. What did they do wrong? How can a country all ready in major debt pay people not to work? Just a few questions that no one seems to be able to answer. Now drive-in church is illegal, but Taco Bell drive in is open, why? Answer that one.

My Mom's church has not missed a service. They all drive to the church parking lot. Tune their radio to a certain station and they listen to their church service. Going to church is not illegal. Getting out in large groups, shaking hands and hugging each other is not smart right now. I can honestly say I have never hugged the person handing me my food at a drive-thru window. As for the government paying people not to work, where have you been? They have been doing it for most of my life. I don't agree with lazy people sitting home and drawing a check. But, that is not what this assistance is for. It is an attempt to ease the finanical damage to the working class during this time.

Mayor Andy Berke said drive thru church is illegal. Mississippi ticketed people $500 last week for drive thru church. Kentucky will be taking license plates down and forcing a 14 day quarantine for attending drive thru church. Michigan said you can’t go check on family members. I live in Marion County where we now have a curfew. What rock are you under? We have been paying welfare but not on this scale. What is the payback plan? There is none. Can you continue to spend money you don’t have without consequences? What are we doing to the America we are leaving for our kids? The hole we are digging gets deeper every day and we will just pass it on to the next generation. This is not the America I want to leave behind for those who come after, because it is nothing like what was passed down to me.

According to your Mayor, the curfew is in place because people were not staying out of public places. Most of these things that are in place that people feel like it against there rights are in place because people were not doing what they were asked to do. I can't answer to what is happening in other places. I do know too many people are getting their so-called facts from Facebook and other social media. EVERYTHING on the internet is not exactly accurate.
I double-checked with my friend that is a Dairy farmer. No official had told him to sell his cows. As a matter of fact, he has had several milk processing plants contact him about supplying them with milk.
