I had an unwelcoming shock at Bass Pro this weekend when I went to make a purchase with my debit card. They ran my card twice and it was kicked out both times. I knew I had enough to cover what I was buying but it wouldn't read. My girlfriend was able to cover what I was getting and I went out and called the bank. When I got my balance, I was down over $700 with charges for $200 and $500 which I knew hadn't done. I go to the bank tomorrow to see what can be done about it and hopefully will be covered. It's scary how quickly some low down dirt bag can clean you out. So try and keep an eye on your cards!

Yeah we had three charges a while back for small amounts try to go through but the bank caught it and flagged the amounts before they went through. The bank told me that if those charges would have went through then the thief's would just keep charging bigger amounts till they wiped me out. We ended up having to get new card numbers and all was good. Hope you get everything worked out and make sure to follow up on this post and let us know what all happened.

The bank will refund your money... What I hate is that I bet the card was used for online purchases that may have not been shipped as of yet. If the Bank would, they could track the shipment and nab the thief. Places where you use your card for entertainment are the worst places. A friend had his number taken at Gooney Golf in Brainerd, Had the phone number of the person who took his number. The Bank refunded his money so he said he did not want to cause the person to loose her job. "BULL CRAP" I tried to get the number of her phone. I planned to go to the counter at Gooney and call the number. Watch who answered, call them to the counter on the phone and inform them "Busted" Larry would not do it... She getting away with this is why she got your numbers. I absolutely Hate thieves.

I had my info stolen a few months ago at raceway in kimball. They got several people with a skimmer on the card slot at the gas pump. It was on the news. Someone was making charges on my card in Calif. about two weeks after I had used that pump. I had to fill out some paper work but I got my money back the next day. Getting your money back shouldn't be a problem. Its just a hassle. I HATE thieves! I had no idea how skimmers work before, but there are lots of examples online to help you avoid being victimized again. (Trust me I read a lot and looked at a lot of pictures of them) I'm sure someone used one to get your info and you'll probably be surprised when you find out where it was. Good luck! I hope your bank is as cooperative as mine was.

more often than not it is much easier to contest a CC purchase than a debit card purchase. Best of luck to you.

Happened with my wifes debit card about 2 months ago. Charges for 30-50 were showing up in Birmingham, places Id never been to. Found 4 of them over a two moth period. The bank refunds your money, but LEO wont go after these people until it reaches $5k. If your a thief, its a great gig, nobody will chase you down. :(

I went and talked to the bank today. They said there have been several instances of this lately. Luckily I am fully covered and got my money back. I just hope they can find a way to catch the dirtbag.
