Water Levels and the Spawn

How do the water levels affect the spawn? This is my first season on this lake during the spawn. Seems to me I'm seeing many areas where beds should be out of the water. Are the fish adjusted to this and spawning deeper knowing the lake levels will rise and fall?

The bigger bass I found on bed today were in 3 to 4 ft of water. The smaller fish were shallower
