I put in about a half hour after sunrise. Just never get there early enough unless it’s a tournament. Put her in at the CFP ramp and ran over to some coves in Dallas Bay. There were tons of minnows and whites and far hitting the top of the water. I discovered that after running a plopper over the top for a while and then threw a roostertail and picked up a white.
As I was leaving I ran into a big school of them and couldn’t get one to hit my bait. It’s a bad day when I can’t pick up schooling white bass. It was a portent if things to come.
I tried fishing a few different spots in the bay, including a grassy point. I didn’t even see any bass. I worked the plopper, spinnerbait, a stickbait and a Tex rigged worm.
I went to meet a buddy in the main lake and when I tried to lower my motor, nothing happened. The tilt would go up, but it down on my 1990 90hp ‘Rude 2 stroke. Thanks to YouTube I learned that there’s a release screw on the side of the mount and got her down. I spent a little time investigating this. Some sites say it is probably a relay, but others say that since I only have tilt, no trim, that there’s no relay. I can here a small click when I hit the up button. Any ideas would be appreciated.
I ran over to the main lake near the cooling towers and fished a cove near a buddy. He caught one small largemouth all morning. We fished a grassy cove. Lots of gar, no bass.
Also, does anyone know when the E Coli danger should be passed? Is there some kind of site we can check?
