My partner Eddie and I fished the Rusty White yesterday expecting to be chasing bass feeding on schools of bait in coves. It was overcast, water at 63. Rain mid-morning and temp starting to drop late morning.
We caught 4 keepers for 7.45, all 15-16”. They were hefty for their length (except one) and we caught them all pretty shallow near or in grass. One fish was skinny and almost colorless. They were all feisty and active. Eddie caught three on a shakey head and I caught one on a stick worm.
Unlike some others, we didn’t catch many shorts. Eddie caught two or three short LM and I caught a 14” SM and a tiny hybrid.
It was slow, but a fun day.
