Watts bar 10-6-06 bass and Cat

I put in by the house today and went bass fishing in the 10-15mph wind out of the north. I caught 6 smallmouths with only one that would keep and a couple largemouth with only one that would keep. All fish were caught on a spinnerbait and torpedo on the main lake points with wood cover. I was fishing a pocket and caught a 38+ pound blue cat on a spinnerbait in ten feet of water next to a blow down. I got pictures of it and will post them later this evening, when I get the desk top hooked up.(been posting with the laptop). It was my biggest Cat I have ever caught, and the fish hit the spinner like a bass. I actually saw the fish grab the bait, which at first I thought it was a rockfish.

I can't even imagine catching a cat that big dang Jon good stuff killer. I've Had cat's hit my small spinners before feels like the rode gonna get tore out of your hands. And yours was 38+ lbs good lord I can only imagine.

jtf, I recon I will have to put off our tentative fishing trip til another weekend. I have some stuff to do with the family. Thats a good Cat for the honor roll. I'll bet he tore that spinnerbait up pretty good huh?

Good fish JTF. I bet it was wild to see that thing hit that spinnerbait.

On the subject of strange catches, I snagged a carp in the dorsal fin on accident yesterday with a crankbait. It's actually the only carp I've ever had in my boat. Man, what a disgusting animal. It slimed my boat up worse than a big catfish ever has.

Besides it not fitting in my net, no problems landing it. It took me about 15 minutes to get it in though.
