My club had our "classic" on the Bar Saturday and it started off cold and foggy. Put in at Kingston City Park and fished until 4. I'd have to say it was a bit tough. I burned more gas than I wanted to trying to find the fish and never put together a pattern until too late. Partner and I managed to scratch out 3 keepers that went a shade over 9lbs and that was good enough for 3rd. Winners had 12lbs and 2nd boated 11lbs. We won our $ back plus a bit more which is better than a stick in the eye. All three of our keepers fell for spinnerbaits. I got the last one with about 5 minutes to go so it was close. Looking back all three came off of banks that had small rocks with scattered larger ones. Of course we figured that out with an hour to go so we were already hog tied on time to do any running and gunning. Caught fish on several other lures including drop shot worms, rat-l-trap, missed one on a jig too, but spinnerbait got the quality. Fish were on mainlake banks too. Smaller fish that we found were in creek coves, like Caney Creek. TVA was pulling water hard too so I thought the bite would have been stronger but it wasn't for us. Partner's keeper ate his spinnerbait while he was burning it back to the boat to make another cast. I looked down and right next to the boat the fish came up and just crushed it. Pretty cool. My two keeper's barley hit the spinnerbait. On one the blade just stopped and the other felt like I'd picked up a blade of grass or something. Really light biters. My next tourney is on Norris and I don't like that lake but I've got momentum on my side now so maybe I'll actually catch a keeper there this time.
