Fished Tuesday evening at Watts Bar. Put in above Hornsby Hollow and fished in the hog pen. The water is up A LOT from the last time I was there. It's not far from summer pool or at least it wasn't Tuesday. The water clarity is also a bit off from what it was...stained is the word for it I guess where I was. Water temp was hovering around 59-60 degrees depending on where you went. Which is about a 10-15 degree drop from the last time I was there. Fished from about 5 in the evening until dark. Here's my report on the fishing itself:

I had my wife with me so I let her feel around for crappie while I was more centered upon trying to bass fish. I started off throwing a chrome/blue lipless crank and it didn't take long to hook into a "goodun". It jumped twice and we saw it was a 3-4 pound Largemouth, then I got it to the boat. I had caught the 3 pounder just a few weeks ago and this one was a longer fish but thinner. Trust me...we got a good look at it when we tried netting it and it done one last walking jump at the boat and came unbuttoned. It was literally inches from being netted but that's how it goes some times. I had bought some 6" shad swim baits just for kicks and giggles. I tied one of those on my other rod and it was like throwing a tennis shoe. LOL. You could throw it a mile. When I first threw it I started casting it just to see how far I could throw it...that became my game. I never imagined I'd catch a fish on it. Boy was I mistaken about that. I started catching 12-15 inch largemouths on it. Not a whole lot but I think I had 3 on it. For some reason I couldn't boat a fish to save my life yesterday. I had more hookups and fish jump that got off than I've had in a long long time. I boated one fish out of about 7. All my fish were decently shallow fish....8' or less in stumpy areas where we had been catching most of our crappie a couple weeks ago.

As for the crappie part of it....I didn't really concentrate on crappie that much. My pursuit was mostly geared in bass but I did troll a little bit but nothing really concentrated. We didn't get a single crappie yesterday. Watched the guys blast off for the Tuesday night dog fights out of Hornsby. If anyone has any info on that particular dog fight tourney I'd like to know more...am interested in fishing it if they don't stay out too late. They blasted off at 6:30 p.m.
