I put in at rockwood last night and went around Thief neck. My first spot was empty and so was my second spot. The third place I went to was loaded with slicks, I probably caught 15 in water about 6 foot deep. I moved out some and started catching bigger ones. I hooked two that went about five lbs, but both got off at the boat. I hooked another about 3 1/2 lbs and another about 3, and then a 2 lber. All keeper fish were about 14' deep and caught on a black/blue jig with black plastic craw trailer. All fish were caught off the same spot and the water temp was 83.

Good looking fish there JTF. I would say if you had got those two fives in and the three in the pictures that would win a Tx or two. Good Job!!!!emoParty Jmax

Nice report and great pics! emoThumbsup

How does Watts Bar compare to the Chick in terms of grass and underwater structure?

Ther is no grass in Watts Bar. It is a deeper lake, with lots of rocky points, and humps. It has some characteristics of the chick, but is just deeper. It can be a tough lake at times.

Great job! Was there cover on that 14 feet level?

There was some stumps and scattered rocks. Not a whole lot though, I think the close proximity to deeper water was more important. I caught them on the first points going into some of the deeper sloughs, and it is a great place for the fish to come up in the evening.

JTF, are you using scales or guesstimating? The bass in the last pic looks to be at least 4 1/2 to 5lbs. Great report!
