Watts Bar 8/5/06 night

I went down to Thief neck tonight and went to my first hole where I stayed the rest of the night. I fished with a zoom magnum dead ringer and caught 6 bass in all. The biggest was about five and the second was three. All fish were caught in 10' of water, but deeper water was nearby. Fish were on secondary points in deeper sloughs. Water temp was 85 degrees which is a little cooler since we got some rain.

I was trying to smile, but I was telling my partner how to use the camera when it went off. The second with me smiling was the 5lber. Man I look goofyemoTongue

Good fish JTF. I am still waitin for the fish to pull into the cut thru at Thief neck. I am ready to go but shucks I have to work. Nice fish man and thanks for the report!emoThumbsup

5lb bass tend to make me look goofy too. Good fish, especially when you don't have to run all over the lake in the dark to find them!!

good fishing jtf..... yes, the first picture kinda looked like a DEER IN THE HEADLIGHTS.... but you done good.... MB let me fish with "THE ROD" yesterday and boy it felt sooooo good... however, did not catch anything on it so I'm still waiting to see how it does under a load....LOL I may build me one like it...emoGeezer

Well, I did catch 2 bass on "THE ROD" Yesterday. It handles a load very well, especially considering it is a light-action rod. It will probably be my rod of choice for jigs and tubes.

MB, I have a same rod, and I use it for small jigs and tubes. I also like to crappie fish with it in the winter and spring.
As soon as it cools off a little, I am going to head down and hit those spots you showed me. I just don't feel comfortable at night down that far.

Man,nice fish.I have been wanting to fish the bar for two years now.I grew up fishing there and haven't had a chance to get back up there since july4th of 04.
Mostly because I don't trust my 8mpg tow vehicle I'm trying to figure out a way to turn my jeep and truck into one work/tow/personal vehicle without spending any cash,These gas prices are killing me!

Nice fish JTF. I'm planning on fishing up toward Thief Neck tonight--hopefully I'll manage to find some like that.

There ws some current, but it was not a whole lot. Also lots of willow flies hatching around the Shields bar area.It looked like snow flurries coming back to the boat ramp. Lots of protien if you ride with your mouth openemoVomit emoZipped
