I got a late start and didn't get on the water till after 11:30 Saturday morning . And most people wouldn't ever consider going out that late . But I have caught some big stringers at Watts Bar fishing middle of the day . Anyway I put in at Sandy Bottoms and started fishing the deep humps with cranks , c-rigs and t-riged worms . First hour not a nibble . I was jumping from hump to hump and finally found them . First bass was a 21 in. Smallmouth on a DD-22 . About ten mins. later got a 5lbs. 9oz. largemouth on a t-rigged power worm . Now the day was looking pretty good . A few minutes later another hit and a 18 and 1/2 in. smallmouth tried to take my rod away from me . Had several more hits but shook them off . I have a tournment coming up any didn't want to sore mouth anymore so I left and found some airconditioning . I seen one other boat fishing all the rest was ski boats and jet ski's . Must have been too hot .

There is some schooling going on in the evenings on the main lake points that are long and shallow, but the fish are not very big. Last time I got into them they were about a pound each when schooling. I did well around thief neck the other night, and have heard that fish are being caught pretty good in whites creek and half moon.

Have you ever fished the "hump" in whites creek? I Also have done well in the cove where Eden is, my stepfather owns a cabin in the very back through the small opening. I have caught some really good ones in there and around the islands. I need to get down that way as soon as it cools off.

Which one ? There are three that I fish . The one out in front of Brigadon Resort , the one before you get to Arrowhead and the one in front of Lakeside on the right . I know of that little cut by Eden . The biggest bass I have ever seen on Watts Bar was chasing shad in 2 feet of water several Novembers back .

The one in front of LakesideemoThumbsup I think everyone in a hundred mile radius knows that hump. I have also caught some really good ones past lakeside up the creek channel off the big stumps, that is a good prespawn area.

Tr19, we are never on the water any earlier than noon. You start slow and the fishing gradually improves until the grand finale at duskemoLaugh. Great report and I'm sure everyone fishing the CFF Bar Tx is taking notes on hump locations!

Jason , any of the lake maps will show you the humps but it's fishing them enough to find the sweet spots . Thats where you will catch those good ones . By the way when is the CFF tx on the bar ?

I was thinking the Sept 16 would be a good date, but nothing set in stone yet. Snuffy was wanting it on the 9th at night but maybe we could switch it to a day tourny on the 9th. I am really open for anything.

I know that this is a bass fishing thread, but I had an awesome day Crappie fishing that hump way back in '73-'74.:) emoGeezer

Taking Notes :)

I'm new to the board...matter of fact this is my first post here. But I'm one of those taking notes. LOL. I don't tourney fish or anything like that though. I bought a boat earlier this year (my first one) so I'm learning to fish that way and it hasn't been easy.

I always put in at Hornsby Hollow and fish that area of the lake. I've been up to the flat in Whites Creek a time or two and fished one of the deep banks there. I was graphing the area looking for the creek channel and didn't realize it went that close to the bank in that one area. If any of ya'll want to hook up some time, just holler. My boat isn't anything fancy...it's a 20' Vision with 200 Evinrude Vindicator. But it floats and runs ) I'm on a funny shift all this month but after Labor Day in Sept I will be back on regular 3rd shift so I could go early mornings or evenings.

welcome to forum Daniel Tn...you`re fishing in a good place ...lots of good place to fish within 5 miles in both directions from Hornsby.....
If I had a dollar for everytime I put in there I could by a new DAH propeller !!!!....well may $5 for every time....

You ought to take Jon up on his offer...he`s probably on top the fish on the Bar as well as anybody.

Daniel do you know if they lock the gate at Hornsby at night....I gonna try to get down there tomorrow nite and probably won`t put in till about 10:00 pm and it`s really the best place from my house to where I want to fish.
Daniel maybe we can get to go after Labor Day...Ican show you a few spots and one or two hidden .....sshhhh spots

By the way jtf ..thanks for the info on Rockwood Landing...I figured it was pretty safe over there...

Welcome Daniel. I fish the Bar often, and would be happy to show you what I know sometime.

Snuffy, you're going to have to come clean on those hidden spots at the next club meeting.
