I put in at Rockwood at 7:30 P.M. and went south of Thief Neck Island. Fished a red shad TR worm with brass and glass, and a black/blue SB with black double willows. Caught a couple dozen smallies but no keepers. All were caught on rocky banks and humps in 12' of water right off the channel. Willow flies are hatching like crazy, I must have ate at least 3 dozen on the way back to the boat ramp at 3:00 A.M.

So ... how is that Willow Fly diet working out for you jtf? emoVomit

Sounds like an enjoyable evening ... minus the WFs down the gullet.

I took one in the right eye on the run to the ramp Sunday. Three days later and everyone around me is still whispering "Don't get too close...he has Pink-Eye."

Hey jtf its only an expresion to become your prey. lol you don't have to eat the willow flyies lol just kidding.

Hey Jon, have you done any good this year at the cut thru? Just wondering if they have moved in there yet. Used to go up there and load up on them in August.emoThumbsup There is some nice smallies stay in there when the current is going.

I have only boated small ones so far this year. I Too have done well in August in the cut thru, and around the rock pile above the cut thru. I expect that after the Fourth of July, the night bite for smallies will pick up.

The biggest smallmouth I ever caught was the night of the 4th two years ago just down from thiefneck. We got lost in the fog that night!:(
