I went up the Emory today after hearing rumors of a 4 pound crappie caught on Watts Bar. It turned out to be a good day with a limit of crappie. I went to some areas I usually hit this time of year, kind of a prespawn/postspawn area with some manmade cover;) Water was cold up there at 50-51 degrees and clear. I caught all fish on red/white tube 5 to 8 feet deep in the first deep hole off the river channel.

That is one fine mess of fish. I may have to make a few short road trips to extend the season. emoBigsmile . Thanks for the pics and post and welcome back.

That is an interesting mix of fish there JTF. Most of those fish are white crappies and still in Chickamauga most of the crappies that we have been catching are black crappies. Is the area in Watts Bar that you fish clear? Are there many weeds? Were most of the fish on brushpiles? Just curious.

Actually PD, the water is clear and cooler than other areas. It has no weeds, but alot of debris from floods, and some bamboo in buckets with concrete. I had noticed in years past that there was these areas on the river that the fish stop at going in and coming out of the spawning areas. Use to catch alot of fish off a single stick up in these areas, and then I added to them. It is the first deep hole in the creek channel off the main river, but is within a hundred yards of spawning areas. Most of these spots are about 6 to 10 foot deep

Good job JTF! Thanks for the info. looks like your attractors are doing good up there this year.
