Hi gang - anybody have any tips for Watts Bar? Have a small tournament there Saturday safe light to 3 out of Rockwood - I know it's tough at night right now, let alone during the day. I've only been on the lake twice, once last June when I caught quite a few fish but all small, then last Thursday afternoon had a couple of hours so put in at the confluence of the Emory and Clinch and ran up each river a few miles just to look around and get water temps. Emory surface temps were 92 and the Clinch was 72 as they were generating hard at Norris/Melton Hill because of this heat. I never took a rod out as I didn't have time. Am thinking about running up the Emory even farther or up the Tennessee toward Loudon for the tournament hoping to find a little cooler temps and a little current. Anybody have any ideas/info I'd really appreciate it! Thanks and see ya on the riv' - TD

What tournament are you fishing this weekend. Is it the one being put on by TVA steam plant. The fishing tough all over the lake, but I fished a small tournament friday evening out of ladd. The guy had 15 lbs. The fishing will be slow and tough but some one will have a sack of fish.

Hi B-Pro,
Yes, it's the TVA tournament this weekend. I saw the 15lbs that won last Friday night, good sack! Like you said, someone always finds them but it's going to be tough fishing during the day with the heat we've been having. At least there is a "cold front" coming through Saturday and it's going to be cool 93 to 95. Again, if anyone has any general tips they can throw my way I'd much appreciate it. Hope to see some of you on the water soon!

I have not night fished yet on watts bar. Read my earlier posts about Watts. I have not had a lot of luck on top, but been catching them on swim jigs, light blue and white in color. I also have decent luck using a watermelon or a pumpkin colored stickbait on a carolina rig off of ledges and points. I seen loads of fish up in furgeson creek 2 weeks ago and more right off of Thief neck by the cut through. They were DEEP! Not sure if they were bass, but they look to be decent size and stacked. I just bought a spoon and some more jigs but I won't be fishing Watts this weekend, have a BASS Weekender Series on Loudon, where the fishing has been just as tough! Good luck!
