I went out for a while last night around Thief Neck Island and had a good night. My buddy and I had the lake to ourselves, and there was a light breeze that kept the bugs off. We started throwing TR worms around some humps but no takers. Switched to a Black SB with a single Colorado, and a few cast later hooked a smallie that looked to be about three lbs, got him to the boat and it came off. After a few more casts we moved to another area that is usually loaded with smallmouth. Third cast, I caught a slick smallie on the SB and a few casts later, my partner caught one about two pounds, but it got off at the boat. We continued down this rocky bank and I hooked probably my biggest smallie ever. It looked to be six or maybe seven lbs, but as soon as I went to pick it up, it jumped and shook it's head, then my line snapped. I was using 20# line and could not believe it. My partner believes it was over seven lbs, but I guess we will never know. If anyone on Watts Bar Catches a huge smallie with a black SB in it's mouth, that fish is mineemoLaugh

I feel for you . I lost one in June at Watts Bar that looked to be in the 6 to 7 lb range that crushed a sb . The sb looked liked it was tied in a knot ! Completely ruined .
