Watts bar

Anyone been to watts bar recently to know if the fish are shallow, deep, or in between? I don't really want to be in the middle of the big bass crowd this weekend

I caught one about 17" long about 10 feet deep Thursday evening on a worm. I did not have another strikes.

Club tx yesterday out of Hornsby Hollow. 12 lbs won it w/ 3.99 BF. Only 3 or 4 limits (5 fish) weighed in out of 18 boats. The shad spawn was on early, but fishing was still tough. We struggled, but I'm pretty sure the fish have moved out getting ready for the next few scorching months. Water temp was 76-82. Good luck!

Did you end up fishing Watts Bar this weekend? If so did you have any luck?

We went Saturday and caught 4 out of the 4 2 were keepers. All were caught on shaky head in about 10-15 feet of water.

the shad spawn is happening in the mornings after that good luck. We locked down and fished the upper end of chick to catch what we had

wonder if the stocking of Florida bass will take. Its been 2-3 years. Next year would mean some back breeding starting to occur. And bigger bass to boot in a year or so. Maybe in a few years it will take some of the spotlight off of the Chick.

I had the boat in getting some work done but it didn't make it home for the weekend so I couldn't get out.

I believe watts bar could easily take pressure off chick in a few years if they let the grass come back.

The grass is making a comeback on Watts Bar but, the weed haters are crying their eyes out. There are town meetings about the perils of aquatic grass.
There is even a committee to combat the evil grass. I can't help but laugh at these misguided people. They will not listen to any argument explaining the benefits.
They want to use pellets, spray or whatever it takes to get rid of all of the plants in the water. Even if it poisons the drinking water and kills every fish in the lake.

That's very interesting. I didn't know that was going on. How is it that other lakes are allowed to grow grass? Does TVA, a federal corporation, answer to locals for that?

They're pitching a fit on chick too. The yuppies don't like the ugly grass around their boat docks. I saw where one of the anti grassers said they couldn't get their boat out of their dock because of the grass.
Who would of thought my trolling motor was stronger than a mercruiser inboard.

TVA is being blamed for ruining the waterways by planting the grass ( or something). It's the same old story. Rewind Lake Chickamauga, 1975.
If history repeats itself, there will be a knee jerk reaction in order to maintain political correctness. The canoe paddlers, the shoreline police and people that waterski in water that is 2 feet deep are wanting someone else to buy some weed killer and millions of grass eating carp (no joke) according to the Roane Count News articles in Kingston. The articles are filled with words like choking, ruining, hazards and property value. Sound familiar?
There is no doubt that the "squeaky wheel" will kill some weeds before this is over.

I do remember the grass back in the 80's when my dad would take me out fishing and it was thick but fun to fish.
