I met up with a fellow BOC catfisherman Sat for an afternoon on WattsBar, the fishing was slow but he managed one fish at 28lbs. I missed several good runs because of bait fouling on hook point. Just my luck!

I put in at Blythe-Ferry and fished around the big island yesterday a.m. with a friend from work. He got a few in the 8lb range and one that pulled the scales down to 31lbs. I argued with him for a few minutes about the big fish, I think my scales are out of whack or something, that fish looked to be around 18-20lbs to me. After looking at the photo's I still believe that fish was close to 20m and not 30, he was happy believing it was 31 so I let it go at that.
Once again I got nothing but missed fish and fouled hooks, lol!

Alright ... that's it. Can I please get an invite from some of you cat heads some time?!? I'll gladly swap an afternoon of chunkin' and windin' for a few paltry 12" - 16" bass ;) .

Nice pics drc.

Nice looking fish drc and congrats on the catch! That one looks pretty close to 30 to me, although I wouldn't know... it's been so long since I have seen one that big in my boat!

It probably is 31lbs, maybe I'm just a sore loser cause I didn't catch anything ALL weekend, lol.

Really nice fish Daniel!!!! You are start to catch them like Richard Simms.

Stay away for a few days and everyone is reporting fish. Do you think the spawn is over? Seems a little slow for it to be over but then that is probably just me.

Did you see the pictures of the 73 or 74 pound Blue in last weeks paper? That would be an experience as I have not broken that barrier.

Good Luck to you on the Smash

Mike

Mike, catching fish like rsimms is a definate goal of mine. My biggest problem is staying on the bigger fish on a consistant basis like Richard. I'll get a boat load one day and zero out the next two, guess thats fishing though.

Maybe the guy's in the paper put that big one back, if so I'll be after him next week. Wouldn't that be a dandy for the Smash!

As for the spawn, I know nothing about spawning cats. I just fish when I have the time, but I have noticed it's been tough fishing up on the lake for the last few weeks. Last month I was getting the big boy's every time I got out, I blame most of my poor fishing times on little to no current flow (WE NEED RAIN).
Hope your able to make it to the CFF cat tourney.

Drc,

Great fish, looks like you found a great hole holding some big cats. Nothing like time on the water to find good holes with fish. Hey, whats the meaning of the sign on the fish?

The sign on the fish is a "control item" used for an online catfishing tourney that I and the fellow in the pic are participating in. The control item is used to make sure people don't enter fish that were caught before the tourney started, it must be in the photo with the fish along with a clear photo of the fish on the scale.
