I started to put this in another post but I wanted to see what you guys thought. I feel like now is a prime time for a relevant new political party to emerge in this country. I don't think the dems or pubs are really getting it done anymore. I personally would like to see a party kind of in the middle that would support;

1. Smaller government
2. Lower taxation across the board
3. Flat income tax or consumption tax
4. Elimination of IRS - I think this tax return crap we do every year is stupid and inefficient!
5. Environmental Stewardship
6. More of a defensive military instead of policing the world
7. Less regulation/market interference

Lots more things but these are just the high points.

BS

... term limits? Every bill introduced has to stand on it's on behalf to be voted on, one at a time with no "pork attachments"! No party systems! You run for an office on you own, just your name and platform, no support or endorsements from anyone else in another office! Control donations and fund raising better! And last but not least, limit advertising spending period! Put a cap on it! Sign me up!

Where can I sign up? Amen on the term limits also; there should be an 8-12 year term limit for all political offices. This kind of looks like Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul's entire platform boiled down...

Sign me up if you move Environmental Stewardship up to No. 3. I really don't want to be around if the air & water is not clean and safe.

I hate that this country seems to break it down between one party or the other, when in reality they both are equally bad. The system is too reliant on large cash contributions and lobbyists writing legislation. Term limits would be a great thing for this country. Try getting that passed with the current two party system. I believe we will see the beginning of a third party soon.

I like everything except the defensive military only. Isolationism, especially from a military standpoint, has never been a good, forward thinking policy. Politicians need to let the military do what it is designed to do with clear expectations and absolute support. No long and drawn out police actions without clear and measurable objectives.

Third party will never work in our system because we have a winner take all approach. You folks are getting into my territory now. We can still have a democracy were more than two parties can be represented. First of all do away with electoral system, silly old school ideaology. First of all this can only begin in the House. If I am killed tomarrow, you guys know what happened. Anyway. People in the states should be able to vote for a party instead of a person. Sounds crazy I know. Lets use Anystate for an example that has lets say 12 reps. people vote for the party platform they like. Lets say third party wins 30% of pop. vote. The leadership will then decide on the 3 or four members from there party they send to the house. Guys I know this sounds extreme, I agree there should be more than two voices. Here is the problem with third party candidates, they usually run on a single issue, Like government to big. Lets use Ross Perot for example, he had a good platform, bring government spending under control. Well problem is both Clinton and Bush Sr. agreed with him. In a winner take all system if you are a Rep. or Dem. you are most likely going to remain loyal to your party. In a vote for party system, leader of party says this is what we stand for people vote. Lets say State has 50-40-30 split. Party A gets 5 rep. Party B gets 4 and party C gets 3, that is if there are only 3. Could be more. Don't see it now. As far as executive goes, it will probably be have to be winner take all. Senate. Each state only gets two, but eventually even in the Senate, some states could send third or fourth party candidates. I did not get this off internet before anybody starts. This would be real change. I think it is sound. Have not edited this, hope you can understand what I am trying to say.

Possum - That's not a bad setup. There are a couple of states that are like this now, Maine is one I think. I'm not sure of the other. It would definitely put power back into the hands of the voters.

I think we need our government to abolish many many many executive orders. Almost like well..............STAR WARS! Good movie to illistrate gov. of Roman empire. Kids get big kick out of it. Let me tell, well can't, or will not. If something really bad happend, gov. has power to shut everything down. I mean everything. For good reason though. I am part of the emergency team as well as my wife. Scary, but don't be. We have your 60.

Possum are you saying, if the Government declares Martial Law that we as American citizens shouldn't be scared or feel threatened?

The last time that the Roman's declared martial law (or their equivalent), the Roman Republic permanently transformed into the Roman Empire...
