Well..planned on shooting a deer this year but Dr recommends not shooting the high power rifles. :( So..son and I got our appropriate licenses last night and went squirrel hunting. emoTongue

Billy got 5. 4 of them w/ a 410 and 1 sweet shot in the head with a 22. That rat was WAY up there too! Now to get him a 22 rifle.

I shot 3 and that was enough to clean up. 7:30-10 is about all the time we spent in the woods. Came home and cleaned away. Lil Billy was required to clean a few so I put him on this video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUUR6lxnAME

Had a great morning watching the sun come up and having some fun with my son. He also shot video of a decent doe that walked right up on us...Should have got my tag!

Being that no one but Billy and I will eat these...I need some good recipe ideas. Grilled, stewed, deep fried or whatever.
Anyone?

Parboil them a little bit to tenderize ... then dip in milk, roll in a little salted flour (some folks like cornmeal) and fry in skillet.

Put some buttered biscuits and molasses on the side... and then call me!

LOL...If I go again and bag some more..we'll have a cook out! Each of you cook your favorite and I'll just fork form all of them.

I'll give that a try Richard and those dumlins sound great!

Dang Billy...you actually eat those tree rats? I got some hamburger meat around here somewhere I can bring to you if you're needing a little protein.

Pointer 78 <--------only eats meat that once oinked, clucked, or mooed.

Deep fried some tonight with some deer tenders on the side. emoHungry MMMMM Smokehouse baked beans and green peas.

emoTongue You go ahead and keep eating that processed formaldehyde meat there Pointer. Might preserve your old butt. emoBigsmile
