Prediction time, folks.

How far are the surface water temps gonna drop by Saturday?

What's the front gonna do to the bass' mood...lockjaw or feeding frenzy?

What about the new moon?

Are you gonna start shallow or deep?

Will you be able to find a spot to fish, or will you have to take a number and wait in line?

Cold fronts usually have a negative impact on bass fishing. All the more reason to go, you can't improve if you don't fish the conditions.

Prediction : There will be some fish caught, boaters without a jacket will be cold in the a.m., Sunday will be the best day, and digging the bottom around points with a cb or rt, and fishing a jb, will put some fish in the boat !emoBigsmile emoBigsmile

I'll be fishing shallow come Sunday, targeting weedbeds, shallow cover, and sandbars. Tomorrow and Friday I think will be pretty tough to fish, but by Saturday AM the bite will pick up. I look for water temps to be in the low 70's to upper 60's by Sunday morning. There is a warm high moving back on next week so I suspect the water temps won't move much at all then. All that is subject to change when I get on the water and see how wrong I was!emoBigsmile

The way I see it is that whether it is hot or cold, a fish has got to eat. You've just got to find what he's willing to get out of their warm cozy bed for. Find the right bait and you'll find the fish.

I would say that there is a good chance that the water temp in the morning on sat will be into the low 70's but if it's sunny and not too breezy that the temps will come up into the mid 70's by the afternoon. With the cold mornings I would expect the bass bite to be off until the water has time to warm up in the late afternoon. It may even be really good late in the afternoon Sunday. I think that Sat will be a tough day all around but the best bite late. I would fish slow and deep in the morning but they may move up shallow in the afternoon. Using smaller baits might be the best thing with the water cooling off. With the cold nights I would expect that the water will continue to cool early next week and once the temp stabilizes the fish might be a bit more active than the last few weeks at least on the lake.
