Went up this weekend for a little hunting in Putnam County. We had the whole gang up this weekend, including wetwillie and Ranger rob, who were new to the property. I wont make a long drawn out story out of it, but Landon tagged a nice 2.5 year old 8 pointer Saturday morning to get things going. The deer ran all the way down the mountain. It was an exciting blood trail job that ended with a tag placement. Thanks to all the guys for helping drag! Man what a drag! Saturday morning, I rushed a shot and missed a doe! Saturday evening I had 11 turkeys come in and I decided I would try to take one of the big hens. The only time I have ever shot at a turkey out of tree, with a bow, the birds were airborne before the arrow hit the ground, not this time. I drilled a nice hen at about 20 yards. Sunday morning another buddy Steven shot a mature doe in the shoulder. We found his arrow with very little blood or penetration evidence. spent the rest of the afternoon looking for her to no avail. We had a great time and the woods were absolutely beautiful! Although its hot right now the deer seemed to be moving quite well in the mid-morning and very little in the evenings ( full moon this week). They are keying in on the chinkapin oaks falling up there. I know these pics are rough, but best I could do. Maybe Wetwillie can add some of his pics!

Congrats on a nice weekend! Gun season opens here in GA this weekend, so Im packin up my stuff and headed to Hancock Co. They are already starting to chase on out 2200 acres, so hopefully with the cool weather that is supposedly coming it will be RIGHT!!!

I am surprised anything was killed with the likes of Wetwillie, RR and you all in the woods at the same time. I am sure there was some liquids being consumed the nights around the camp fire. Great that no one fell out of a tree or anything else on the bad side. Good looking buck!!!! Thanks for sharing, congrats on the turkey. emoThumbsup Jmax

Whats with the tarp... a little blood on the tailgate never hurt anything...unless its a chevy tailgate...then bloods like battery acid...

We had the buck wrapped and packed with ice Anthony, landon was able to get his buck to the processor in fine shape. like I said, I hate the pics, they dont do the trip justice....Al...Where's the pics?

I really appreciate the invite, Churls. That was the first time I'd been in the woods for a deer in about 12 years and I had a grand time. I never even had the opportunity to draw a bowstring on anything, but sometimes even getting skunked feels good.

I was actually hoping one of the 4 million resident coyotes up there would happen by and I'd get an opportunity to arrow one of those suckers!

Congrats to you on your bird and to Landon for his 8 pointer.

Justin, please don't make put these pictures on here...somebody might get arrested for indecent composure.

It was a great weekend and congrats to you and Landon. emoCool

would of been a nice one next year emoThumbsup

Instead he'll make great table fare! Besides, I guarantee you, if you would have taken the effort to hang stands and hunt in such rugged terrain, you would have shot him too! My buddy that took the deer was tickeled to death, and so am I!
