I am still in recovery from the weekend events. It started saturday with a club tourney from 8pm-3am. I thought we would have a few keepers by dark, NOT! Firday was one of the worst nights of fishing. Our blacklights and spotlight went out just after dark, and after trying to figure out the issue decided to cut our losses and just fish. Luckily my partner caught 2 keepers just before the weigh in on an SB in very shallow water. We got 5th with 5+ lbs and 13.65 won it, big fish was caught by fisheadspin at 5.65lbs, he ended up with 2nd place and just over 10lbs. Saturday before the party we went up and fished the shallow grass around Hiwasee looking for the TW bite. We had 3 blow ups but no hook up, 2 on a pop-r and one on the buzz bait. We ran back down river and fished a bar that toped out around 6ft with grass on top. We drug c-rigs through the grass and as soon as it would clear the grass in about 10ft the fish would nail it. caught several fish with 3 being keepers, then went back to the house for the party. Got up Sunday and fished around Hiwasee. caught some short fish on pop-r and my partner missed a good one on a buzz bait. We also fished c-rigs in the ditches around the big island and Chris caught a decent keeper. We were rode hard and hung up wet so we called a weekend and hit the house. Congrats to all of you guys who did well at the CFF night event! I will be out of pocket for the next few weeks as the wedding is comming up next weekend. I might get to fish just a little bit this week, if so, I will report. I will be in Jamaica all next week and am looking forward to geting a charter in down there... Hopefully I will have some cool pics of some bill fish or some thing.

Churly, congratulations in advance on your wedding. I hope it goes smooth and I hope yall are happy for a long time to come. I hope you catch some good ones in Jamaica and bring back pics. You lucky dog.

Yup, congrats on taking the vows, bud. I hope that your soon to be wife completely understands your obsession with fishing. ;) Have fun in the islands, bud, and catch a few exotics for us! emoToast emoToast emoToast emoToast emoToast

Churly,

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! Hope you get to tie into a marlin while in Jamaica. Caught a couple off Venice, LA before Katrina & they give you an experience you will never forget.
Brent & I put in @ Grasshopper Sat. about 5:30 & fished up around the islands too. Caught 5 or 6 on top with 1 keeper right off. Couldn't get a hit on a buzz. Used a PopR & spook. Had to twitch it 2 or 3 times, then let it sit for at least 10 sec., then they'd hit it. TW quit about 7. Found grass clumps around points on the islands that had bait all over them. Caught 4 keepers swimming a 10" worm & slow rollin' a SB. Funny thing was we were fishing 1-4' water with bait all over it, but not a fish busted the minnows on top. They were very aggressive as long as the presentation was near the bottom. I saw 2 fish hit my SB coming over a clump of grass when it was running less than 1' deep, but I'd follow with a PopR & they wouldn't even look at it. Thought that was kind of strange.
