About 1.5 years ago I acquired p90x and accessories and did a decent 90 days of it although I was way to fat. Over the next year I did it sporadically along with some cardio at the gym. I never lost any weight but got stronger and had better stamina. This year I decided to take a p90x break and focus on weight loss for a while. On Jan 7 I started following the Metabolism Miracle book and plan. I started at 275 lbs. After 3.5 months I am down to 242 lbs but I have plateaued at that weight. So today I decided to start a new 90 day round of p90x. First the first time in over a year I actually did the entire chest and back workout - Every Excercise!! I can even do dive bomber push ups now. However, I did half of Ab Ripper X and it still sucks!

I'm going to make a serious effort at this and see where it takes me. I'm sure I'll gain a little weight but It won't be lard.

Good deal Lance, I'm about to start another round of P90x tomorrow. I always have to do AbripperX before the other workout or I'll skip it. It sucks just as much on the front end as the back end though.

ab ripper x is horrible! pain! p90x is alright, but if it isn't put with diet and more cardio, you won't get that weight loss you want. I think the cardio is lackluster, and really how much can you do in a living room cardio wise? You can't replace running, hiking, etc, in a living room.

Plyometrics is a pretty tough workout, but for some serious calorie burn, instead of doing the P90x cardio, sub in Insanity on those days. That workout will just about kill you.

Regarding P90x Plyometrics:
Wearing a heart rate monitor I can burn 800-1200 calories depending on how hard I bust my A-double. I have seen 1300 once. Running 5 miles at a 8.5min clip will get me 800-900 calories almost everytime......

I've gone through P90X and still can't do the whole ab ripper, it's freakin' tough. For some reason women can do it better, some physiologic thing or something (that's what she said...). I'm on my 3rd week of Insanity and it is killer. It works your abs and core every day, my abs are in better shape now than when I was doing P90X. And you burn some serious calories, I don't know how many, but I'm a skinny dude and I can't keep my weight up where I want it without forcing calories down even when I'm not hungry. The cardiovascular is intense, my heart rate after the warmup is usually around 178. What I like most is the workouts are all less than an hour, generally 40 minutes (so far at least), and you're done with a little extra time for weight lifting or something else :)

My brother started doing Insanity Asylum. Talk about crazy, it makes regular Insanity look like a rest period. He keeps trying to get me to do it with him, heck, I can't finish a regular Insanity workout.

Agree with Minner. I burn more calories per minute on P90X workouts than I do running or jogging. Plyo I burn on a average of 950 calories in 60 minutes.

emoThumbsup Lance has done very well on this thing he does. I fished with him last year and he made me look small. emoBigsmile When I went with him a couple weeks ago he looked a LOT leaner and fit. You can see the results on his frame. If you have not seen him lately you will be surprised. emoThumbsup Congrats BS! Jmax
