Friday morning after figuring out how to get to channel from JR's we started behind Hog Island- nothing, so from there we worked our way toward dam fishing points and ledges thinking the fish would have pulled out some with the cold front, wrong. Finally around 10 caught a couple short fish on the ledge just prior to bridge at dam on a bitsy bug. Broke another off, and lost one on a crankbait. Went on down to powerhouse and fishied it til noon- nothing. Went back up to points right in front of dam, but current was so strong couldn't fish the jig of tx rig, by now it's 1:00 and we're starting to get frustrated. So i tell my partner it's time to get in the creeks and see if we can find something. Left and went into Yellow creek. About half way back started fishing chunk rock that was loaded with stumps in 16 ft. nothing. Went back in pocket around docks and finally picked up a keeper. Ended up with 7 fish, 3 12" keepers for the day. Also caught an 8 and a 5 lb. stripe. They both hit like freight trains in 2-3 ft. of water. Saturday (tourney day) we went straight to the flats in Yellow creek. 10 minutes in picked up a 3.25 LM, 10 minlutes later a 2 lb. spot, and a few short fish. Around 8:30 a 12" keeper. Didn't pick up another keeper until around 10:30. Then didn't catch another fish til noon our 5 keeper now if we could just cull a couple out. 1:30 caught a 1 lb. spot to cull one of our 12" fish. Then pulled over to another bank to fish the last 10 minutes. Stripe, 15" spot, stripe. It's time to go, or so we thought. When we got back to weigh in @ 2:25 there were only a couple boats in, they told us they changed it to 3:00 that morning. No one bothered to tell us when we checked in. So we left fish biting 30 minutes before we had to. Oh well, ended up with 9.00 good enough to finish in the money at 8th. 16.3 won, 14.2 2nd, 11.1 3rd. We did have 2 real good fish hit us right at the boat that we didn't hook. It's bad when you see the 4-5 pound fish hit and don't get them in. All our fish were caught in 1-5 ft. water on Texas Shad Mad-N and a purple/chartreuse deep baby N. BTW if you stay at JR's the motel is a good place to stay, if they're going to put you up in a trailer tell them thanks, but no thanks..... Sorry so long!!!!!!!!!!!
