havent been in them heavy in the last month or so. but i fish up river on the coosa north of riverside. i can typically find them in the mouth of any creek or (small slough opening) that runs into the channel, typically on the downriver side, fish a black and glitter 3" 1/8th to 3/16th jig steady retrieve. normally run it pretty fast with little or no sink time on a light 6-8 lb test spinnin rod. ive only fished weiss consistently for a year and a half. but this is one of the consistent patterns i have found. spring summer winter fall it dont matter. sometimes i vary with a 3" shad or a salt and pepper jig. but the 3 inch seems to be necessary. the best i have found are from hamilton sports shop they have the best jigs too. light wire 2/0 hook i just snip off most of the weedless stuff as you dont need it.their twist tails are a good weight solid rubber thin body great action great for casting. my second fav is a 4" yamamoto i get at sportsmans its about the same size at the other 3"s. dont know why this size is sooo important but it is. ive had MANY 50+ fish days with me and a buddy. but throw a 2" and wont get a hit! good size fish too with some nice 2+ largemouth thrown in for fun. this has been a real blast, and i have yet to really target the crappie. i just alway seem to get in em and cant quit.
good luck if you see a yellow century center console say hi
