Welcome to the CFF. OK if you are going after crappie take some 1/32 and 1/16 oz jigs and troll the flats just off the river channel close to the Hawg's Den. Shooting the docks near JR's will produce some fish as well. Bubblegum/chartruse tripple ripple grubs,black/blue/chartruse,John Deere green,Tennessee Shad with tails dyed chartruse are good producers. If you be real careful and stay in between the channel markers go up the Coosa about a mile and a half past the Alabama Belle Resort and fish the backs of the logjams with these jigs. For catfish bump bottom with cut shad down stream from the big bridge at the Hawg's Den. If there is any current let it take you downstream doing this. If not use your trolling motor pretty slow. That area is 45 to 55 feet deep and is the deepest water on the lake. Use some good gear doing this there are some big blues there. 25 pound mono minimum,6/0 to 8/0 hooks and about a 2 oz sinker. Some decent cats can also be had out in front of JR's in the 15 to 20 foot water near the Little Channel. This should keep ya'll busy for a day.
Come back on and let us know how you did. Pics are always nice too.
