Fished a club tournament today with the Cleveland Bassmasters at Weiss Lake. Beautiful day. Tough bite. Managed to land 4 keepers and ended up with a 4th place finish. Joe Turner, my partner, won with almost 11 lbs. There were several other clubs fishing today also. The ramp at Weiss Landing looked like a BFL was launching this morning. Bites were few and far between. All the fish we caught, except for one, were caught pitching a jig in water 4 ft or less. Joe's largest keeper, ( big fish for the tournament) was caught on a T-rigged lizard in 3 ft of water. Wind was becoming a big factor as the afternoon wore on. Just once I'd like to fish a tournament this year with wind velocity less than that of your average catagory 3 hurricane. Put'em back alive.

Good job Pointer... Was you drivin the boat or was he? If you was drivien then maybe you should be a guide down there. emoThumbsup Sounded like a good day but I have been down there and never found it to be a calm day on Weiss. emoLaugh
For some reason you just can't get out of the wind on that lake.. emoLaugh Thanks for the report!

I went no boat. I really enjoyed the ride in his Champion too. It handled those whitecaps with ease. One of the biggest problems fishing in high winds is by the end of the day, you've burned up your trolling motor batteries. Also, my favorite hump only paid off with his big fish and one smaller keeper for me. All the others came off shallow docks that he took us to.

me and my dad put in at that ramp saturday morning. Both of the ramps were packed. We caught 6 keepers and missed a few more hit a jig. We caught most of them early in grass in 1 to 2ft of water. Later in the day we used a c-rig and caught a few small ones but the wind was so bad we couldnt stay on the spot long. We went back this morning and couldnt catch a fish. We fished grass, docks, and humps and couldnt find anythingemoScratch

Congradulations on your strong finish on weiss lake, for the secound time this year. That lake must be your favorite lake to fish.

Hey, when do the stripers start hitting down there on Weiss? I am heading there in the Jun or July and need some help. What is the limit on them there in AL?

Tom......Weiss has saved my behind a few times the last couple of years. And yes, it is my favorite lake. Which gives me an idea for a thread.

Jerdog.......I can't help you on the stripers down there. I've never fished for stripe.

I fish the North end of Weiss from riverside marina.
What color Jig Did they hit?
I've been doing better on watermellon & cotton candy lizerds.
I'm new at this so forgive the spelling.
