Anyone notice the major tournament trails never go to Weiss Lake. Seems like it's always Guntersville, Chickamauga or even Neely Henry that they go to. Weiss seems like a hidden gem especially considering how big of a lake it is.

Not as many as you would think dragfish. I get more of a kick out of then saying crappy. Instead of crappie.

When I first came to Cleveland, TN in 1976 crappie fishing was not as good as it is today on upper Chickamauga & Hiwassee River. All I ever heard anyone talking about was Weiss (weese) Lake. I finally had to ask where it was and check it out:)

Locals pronounce it Wice. Out of staters pronounce it Weese.

I had a confusing time when I fished there as a youngster around 1970. I was pronouncing Weiss..."Weese" and crappie..."croppie". Everyone there said "Wice"...and "crappie"... like I would say "pappy". When I heard it pronounced that way it just didn't sound like it would taste as good as "croppie". emoPoke

It's a great lake ! Lots of big bass. I think it gets it's fair share of Bass weekends and BFL tournaments. Scary lake to run .

My biggest spotted bass ever came out of lake weiss 5.89 lbs. I would like for some major tourneys to come there and see how they fish it
