Saturday: I had to coach my son's football game so i did not arrive at the dock until 11:30 but partner went ahead and took my boat. He had nothing to show when I arrived so the day was off to a bad start. He did say he lost a 3 lb fish, which made things worse. The day was one of lost fish after i arrived we lost 3 more fish that would go over 3 lbs and my personal worst moment was a 5-6 lb fish that came off for no reason at the boat. I PITCHED A BEETLESPIN TYPE FIT! If we landed what we hooked we would have at a 17 lb bag easy. Instead we sctrached out a 7.45 lb limit that left us 3 lbs out of the lead. We got lucky and scratched out some schooling fish to fill our limit and caught one 3 lber to top off the 7 lbs.
Feeling quite confident about at least seeing some big fish I went out of a limb, for no other reason the try to get in everyone's head, i predicted 15 lbs for sunday!
Sunday: The first 3 spots we stopped we did not even get a bite! I was sure i jinxed us by running my mouth! Made the decision to go down to a rock pile where we filled our limit but this time really had to work for them.
Threw a C rig for over 2 hours to get a tiny limit of spots that might have weighed 5 lbs. At noon, knowing it was tough and knowing we had to gamble and that we had a limit, we decided to go try for a few big fish.
The planets lined up and the big fish stayed buttoned, flipping a meat head worm was about all they would bite. I hate throwing small stuff. but it worked. Culled 9 fish.
PREDICTION 15 LBS- FINAL TOTAL 14.95
Talk about getting lucky and running your mouth at the right time!
Won the tournament with 22 lbs in two days.
