He has a tremendous passion for teaching others what he has learned about taking care of your body with proper diet and exercise. He’s been focused on taking his passion to the next level with his girlfriend and gaining a following in the home-fitness movement, and couldpossiblybe a part of a future workout project with the creator of many of the Beachbody programs like Power 90, 90X, Insanity, Body Beast, etc.</font></font>

Question? emoGeezer For over 50 guys like me - Is there hope? emoLaugh But seriously just curious if you are starting from an out of shape position is this P90 thing I keep hearing about applicable to me without killing me in the process?? emoScratch

Matt, IS 50 and in better shape than most 20 yr olds. Using his knowledge over the last two months has been monumental in my progress. I was told I couldn't do P90X, that it would be too hard for me, but I'm doing it, and seeing great results. If your serious we can get you added to the group and you and Matt can discuss where to start, I would take his advice seriously, you CAN do this, I promise. There are multiple programs that Beachbody offers, and of course, you can do any number of other brands of fitness programs. You can join a gym, or for most folks, start using the membership you currently have and not using.

Uh oh, pics being posted already...
And go easy on me Erik, I'm still a sprite young 49 year old, not 50 until next summer (-:

P90X is an advanced program, and it's not easy, but many people who were out of shape have started with it and had great results. The Power 90 program is the first in the series and is more of an entry level program that I would recommend to most who are just starting in to fitness or haven't been involved in fitness activities for a long time. That doesn't mean it's easy though, it makes you work and you will struggle with some of the exercises in the beginning. And like Erik said, there are hundreds of other programs that will work as well, including hitting your local gym and going through their programs.

I should have started first with diet... No matter what exercise program or physical activity you choose, none of them will work long term if you don't first decide to start eating healthier.

If you pair the two together you will get in shape, lose extra weight, and have more energy and feel better about life. Erik can attest to this, he's lost around 24 pounds and over 3% body fat in a couple of months eating clean and exercising. We have another guy in our group who started out at 302 pounds and this weeks is down to 210 pounds and still dropping.

I'm an engineer nerd so of course had to come up with a simple formula...
LEAN = Lifestyle (choose to be healthy) + Eating (good diet) + Activity (exercise) + Numbers (track your weight, measurements, body fat, etc)

Ah, Matt is 50, I am sure of it. He refuses to produce a legitimate birth certificate. When he was 18 his first job required all interns to still be under 18, so I propose he faked one that showed him to be one year younger. He did all to get a federal job! You gotta watch out for that ol feller!

I'm re-starting p90x and diet today. Two things are motivating me;

1. That pic of Matt is convincing

2. All the pants my wife says she bought for me appear to be for some skinny A-hole!!

I'm a bit of a fatalist. Matt looks good but no guarantee of living a long life. I had a fellow in my church in KY that did everything wrong according to the Doctors, etc. Everything fried in lard, a bath once or twice a week. He died at 103! How many healthy people were in the World Trade Center in 1991?

I know I could die at any second, but I still choose to live a fairly healthy lifestyle and feel good about myself... I'd rather die healthy (-: I look at it as increasing my odds of not dying from a health related cause... Kind of like wearing a seatbelt while driving, drinking and driving, wearing a PFD while running a boat, looking both ways before crossing the street, etc. Everyone has a choice and I respect that, as long as it doesn't affect me or my loved ones (or my bank account).

Bit of facetious humor that I have. I do have something that falls in line with this forum section. Mr Dr. said my blood sugar was a bit high. Not real bad but he cautioned me to lose some weight (doing this right now) and watch the sugar intake (I'm divorcing Little Debbie). Go back for a lab for another situation- PSA about double of last year's. He has me on an antibiotic, hoping this is caused by an infection. If not, then I anticipate a specialist and a biopsy.
Tight lines and big fish! emoFish
