What happens when you fix a broken wire on a motor and and then it wont start any more.. . Why dont it freakin start ... thats what I wondered today ,emoLaugh

Well as it urns out the broken wire ( Blue w/purple stripe ), went to the trim tilt, which it doesn't have, when I repaired the wire, the motor would no longer start .. so I got to thinking what changed since I last tried to start it .. YES that's it I fixed the wire .. so I removed the wire from the terminal strip and it cranked again. I called wrechin ( James ) to see if he knew what the wire went to .. nope he said he would have to look it up .. so I got out the book couldn't find it .. kept looking .. apparently that goes to the trim /tilt motor if it had one .. apparently at one time it did. and so I found out that motor wont start if connected emoBang emoLaugh emoDoh

Kill wire is black/yellow or yellow/ black......So is it a blue or red wire now??? I told you it was a newer ( around a 88-90) engine to only have the 1 pack and that most manufactures have the black/yellow,yellow black wire as the kill switch (trying to make it a standard color. Gray=tach, Purple=switch power, Red= hot all the time, ect..). You told ME it was a red/with blue and I asked if it looked like a purple stripe and you said could be (did remember that much about OMC wiring LOL!). You said it was on the wire on the bottom of the "tree" and was on with a purple one. That is not the correct placement. It does feed the trim switch and is suppose to go to the on the 12V going to the starter solenoid. Looks like something may be messed shorted up in the harness, by being on the purple wire that is the ignition feed from the switch. Could be killing the power and not allowing power to pass through due to a short. Best thing to do is leave it off and secure it. There is the answer you want earlier. I am alot better with mercury V-6 wiring. I work on it ALOT more than OMC. Hope this helps!
