Allison has a holeshot plate and it mounts on the back bottom of the transom. I know Allison is a light boat but Darius popped it up on plane at 16 mph.

Holeshot plates mount under a jackplate to basically divert water from going up that huge space. They help with lift. I like having mine.

They work pretty good on the smaller or I should say lighter boats. It just diverts the water away from the jack plate and keeps it from going up into the jack plate cavity. It really don't help much on the heavier boats.

They do work well on the larger boats because it keeps the water from going in the jackplate which inturn makes the rear end of the boat sit a little higher. What some people do is put small basket balls in their jackplate to fill in the void space. You would be amazed at how much higher it will raise the back of a 21' boat.
