OK EVERYONE I NEED TO KNOW WHY MY CURADOS COME WITH TWO DIFFERENT COLORS OF BRAKE WEIGHTS. REALLY NEED SOME HELP WITH GRTTING MY REELS DIALED IN. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!!!!!!!emoTongue

Shimano actually has 3 different color of brakes..Red, Green and Gray...All are different and provide more or less braking than the other..The green or red may be thicker or more plastic wall than the other....I think the gray on is the thinest and provide less braking. With the combination of all 3, A reel can be fine tuned for casting...In my opinion, 2 in the out position always works with me no matter the color of the braking ear...Not sure if this helps but was explained to me that way....

Yes, the different colors denote brakes of different mass (weight). I think I've read a snippet or two on Tackletour. Also, checkout heartland tackle (no affiliation)--I know they sell different shimano brakes--that fellow might advise as to the difference. I think he was looking to get out of the business though.
