15lbs Largemouth Bass in Tennessee - Would be State record
10lbs Spotted Bass anywhere - Would be State record & World record
OR
8lbs Smallmouth Bass anywhere - Don't know about State record... But it wouldn't be a world record

Just an interesting thing to see what y'all would pick...

I pick the 10lbs Spotted Bass coming out of Parksville...

Pound for pound, a 4 lb spot fights much harder than a 4 lb blue cat to me.

I'd pick a 10 lb smallmouth, which you didn't offer, but I'd still pick that :)

OK
Think of it this way a 4 lb spot is full grown, a 4 lb cat is still a baby not mature, Hate to say it after this week but my vote for pound for pound still is a big bull brim...If hey got to be 12 -15 LB man..

And Crazzy I would love a big smallmouth...8 lb would do nicely...

Got to fish with a guy on the flint river in southeast Georgia and he caught a 5lb Shoal bass on a 7ft flipping stick heavy action and it had the rod bent almost in half pulling drag while fighting current. I didnt get to feel the torque of one of those bad boys but man would I love to. Gotta be the strongest bass species although they are not very common.

SpurHunter - 3/25/2008 10:59 PMCatfish...they fight harder than any of these fish. PERIOD.

To be honest spur..a blue cat ( in my opinion) doesn't fight real well at all. They just roll around a bunch. A channel cat fight pretty good, and a flathead may very well rip your arm off, but over all I just don't think catfish fight as hard as other fish.Ther weight and girth are just very hard to pull through the water. If I am going to choose a fish of bigger size to fight it will be a stripe hands down! Once again JMO. Of those choices above, I'd love to catch any of them!

i would pick the 10 lb spot because if you've ever hung into a 6 lb'er you would know why. but remembering back about 20 years ago fishing watts bar, i hung a smallie on a spinnerbait that after what seemed like 10 minutes of fighting came off (and my reel appeared to be smoking) after the 7 or 8 runs in all 4 directions under the boat and left and right then away from the boat twice in each direction, my partner said after the spinnerbait flew past my head and i was busy ducking that it rolled on it's side on the surface it was at least 2 or 3 lbs larger than the one he had mounted (7 3/4 lb) and that it made his mount look like a minnow. i would really have loved to have gotten it in the boat, i would have measured it and gotten pics of it and let it go and had a mount made just like it. i wish everyone would take pics and release all of them if possible.

50+ lb rockfish is what I wanna catch...aint no record at 50, but would be a PB for me

or

a 40+ lb muskie

these two fish species are the hardest fighting in lakes around here......although gar and carp will pull on the rod pretty well

None of them ........give me a 30lb + carp( I'd prefer a 50+ and claim the record lol) to fight on a rod and reel any day. But I'm terribly biased I've fished for them here and back in the U.K. for almost 20 years .I did catch a largemouth roughly about 8lb on sweetcorn while i was reeling in the other day though ..Shocked the life out of me as I have never caught 1 before .I must admit they are beautiful specimens but of coarse the wife had the camera for the kids easter egg hunt ! so no pictures :( so it goes into the "fishermans tale" category lol

I'd take the spot. If I posted an 8lb smallie, people would mistake my post for another one of catch1's and wonder why I didn't have a second smallie in my other hand this time.

Subject: New California State Record Spotted Bass and New World Record Spotted Bass

On April 21, 2001, I caught the new California State Record Spotted Bass and World Record out of Pine Flat Lake in central California. I have attached an article describing the event. I believe the fishing world would enjoy reading how during a team tournament, a fish of a lifetime was hooked and landed.

The fish was certified and weighed 10.27 pounds. I took the fish during an American Bass, Big Valley Region Team Tournament using your products which allowed me to be successful. I'd like to thank you for providing me with a quality product to catch a fish of a lifetime.

Sincerely,

Bryan Shishido (letter to Gary Yamamoto)

It is easy to tell a smallmouth from a spaaat, the SMALLMOUTH is the one that got away.....I will take smallmouth anyday
