...dead geese and mushroomsemoScratch? Or is it just me? Having never seen a dead goose before, it has been strange to see three in the past two days. And of all things, they were roadkill. It's the same with the mushrooms. I've gone from rarely seeing them to finding big blooms of twenty or more in my yard, as well as in several of the neighbor's.

Any thoughts?

The mushrooms are probably growing b/c of lower than normal temps, high dew points, and recent rain storms from the other week, I have seen a bunch growing near my house. As for the geese, ?

Early goose season opened on Monday. These birds probably have gunshot wounds, flew off, and later died.

Jason, I've seen a ton of mushrooms down here in Bama... there is huge blooms everywhere. I think its a conspiracy by the Republicans to get liberal hippies to pick 'em and eat 'em :)

I am sure that is the cause. Say what you will about the lead and steal debate it has happened every year since steal became mandatory. It just does not have the penatration power that lead has. Poor geese get hit but make it off, then after going a ways they are overcome and fall. I guess there is a small chance they fell out of someones boat or something while driving back but unlikely. emoRolleyes Jmax

I've got quite a few purple ones growing in the manure pile from my horse stalls if the hippie liberals want some LOL

beetlespin - 9/3/2008 3:08 PM I think the mushrooms grow in acidic soil when there is adequete moisture.some lime will knock them back.

Sounds like I'm getting ripped off by Tru-GreenemoLaugh.
