After a futile search for more Gambler Cane Toads, which are my favorite, I was forced to pick up some different toads to try out. Tonight I used a toad by Lake Fork Tackle that I found at Sportsman's and was not really impressed with the quality. Out of a six-pack, only one had functional legs...most were warped from the mold or packaging. I also grabbed the Sizmic toad on clearance at Dick's but have not tried them yet. With the milfoil and duck/pond weed starting to proliferate on the Chick, I need to find a brand that I can fish with confidence. Which ones do you guys like?

I've had pretty good luck with Zoom toads, but they wear out too quick. Just recently started using Mann's Hard-Nose frogs. They last a whole lot longer than any I've tried.

As for plastics, I like the Sizmic toads. They seem to last longer than Zoom. But lately I have been throwing the Dean Rojas Spro frog and I love it. If you trim a little off one of the legs it gives it some great "walk the frog" action.

hl&s - 7/12/2007 7:08 AM I like the Zoom's and Stanley Ribbits rigged with a Zoom Horny Toad Hook.

Me too, the Ribbit with a Zoom Horny Toad hook. The Ribbit replaces a BuzzBait around grass really good. Those little legs throw allot of water and noice.

I like throwing the scum frog trophy series. In my opinion it is just as good as the Dean Rojas frog and you can buy two scum frogs for the price of one Rojas frog.

The spro bronze eye frog for topwaters and i use the ribbit and the sizmic toads for buzzbait type frogs.

(quote) FUR-BIT-FROG!!!!!!!!!! BY OPTIMUM BAITS."

RJS, Did you find the award winning furbit locally ? I have been checking every week for the furbit and the new bass grabber jigs and can't find them in our area. Seems like it takes forever for new lures to trickle to Chatt !

i agree with fishing junkie spro frog rojas model pull the legs down and cut them in half otherwise they are too long. as for the gambler cane toad soddy-custom tackle has them in stock (or did the other day) I dont have their no. handy but they r in the book.

I went back to Sportsman's and exchanged the LFT toads for a pack in better shape......and also picked up some Ribbitts. After testing them Thursday evening, I am sold on the LFT toad. I also picked up some Gammy EWG 3/0 Superline hooks and did not have the spiraling problem that often occurred with the Horny Toad hook.

Hey dunk, thanks for the tip on Soddy Custom Tackle. I'll swing by next week on my way to Gatekeepers.

Im partial to tree frogs, and good old yard toads, except when they pee on ya .. yuck
