Well I have seen better days on Wheeler than today. My plan was to run to some of my main lake points around Fox Creek and Mallard Creek, but as we got onto the main lake in Decatur, I was greeted by 4 foot swells... good ole Pleasure Boats EVERYWHERE... yes its spring/summertime again on Wheeler Lake.

We trailered and headed into Flint Creek (big surprise for me). I wanted to see how high the lily pads have gotten, they are starting to bloom their pads already and some are as large as dinner plates. I worked the areas throughly with a Dixie Jigs Spinnerbait (RR!), and missed two fish and one came unbuttoned, not much size though. My partner caught a 1 lb 8 oz LM out of the lilies with a white spinner bait. We then moved on to some nice bushes near the main channel of Flint. We were both flipping brush hogs, I missed two fish, and my partner landed a georgous 2 lb 9 oz Largemouth, it was a Florida Strain Largemouth the first I have seen in the Creek since Game and Fish released 10,000 Florida Strains into Flint Creek two years ago.

We went and scouted other bushes in a Creek to be Named After my tourney, and headed in around 5 p.m.

My partner fished areas on the main lake Saturday, and caught 3 keepers in about an hour that came in at 10 lbs, with a 5 lb kicker. She was spent and had a bloody tail from fanning. Those fish were caught on a heavily wind blown rock bank with a spinnerbait.

The basics:

Water Temp 74 degrees
Wind out of the West around 5-10 mph
Water clarity 1-2 ft

I feel we have a solid game plan for our Club tourney next Saturday. Being the two youngest fellas in our club we have alot to prove, so we are really excited.
